I'm watching Gamespot @ E3 live, and they're interviewing the Journey design director.
She just said that the game will take 2.5 to 3 hours to beat
Since alot of people seem interested in this title, i thought this would be important to mention.
Journey
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Mar 13, 2012
Journey is thatgamecompany's third release for Sony. Roam the lands discovering the history of an ancient civilization on a trek toward a distant mountain. Go at it alone or explore with strangers online.
Journey campaign length = 3 Hours
I wish it was a little bit longer but to be honest it's only because I'm so excited by the idea of it that I want it to go on for ages. Having said that I would rather it was only long enough to not outstay it's welcome and if they think 3 hours is the amount of time, then I trust their judgement.
Stars Wars Episode 4's non interactive "campaign" takes around 2hrs to complete and yet that had 20 years worth of interest and repeat play.

They were talking about this so much on the podcasts, and I have never heard of it. Feel bad for the guy who was on there. You feel bad for someone else because your ignorance keeps you from the knowledge that the dude who made Flower and flOw is releasing a new game? You should feel embarrassed for yourself.
Oh yeah...you realize that a games length does not determine it's quality right? I beat Portal in 2 hours the first time I played it and I beat it in under an hour the last time I played it. Still probably one of the very best games I've ever played.
I'd say a games length is no more relevant than it width with regard to how good or bad a game is.

I don't care if it's longer or shorter than their previous games as long as it's better.
I'm not a huge thatgamecompany fan.

Any male who liked flower needs to have ALL his man cards revoked. That is just unacceptable. What if watching Flower made their wives or girlfriends horny?
Grey areas exist everywhere my friend.

Pretty obvious he was sarcastically referring to Attack of the Clones as a "classic" movie
Don't try and justify your love of the fruity game with ridiculous analogies. Too funny! It's like a dude saying "Yeah man, my girl made me watch that stupid, sappy movie The Notebook again. I hate when she does that!" They try to play it off, but they know they watch it by themselves and cry....they know. LOL
Dont care. This is a unique experience from thatgamecompany. So I'll take whatever they're giving :DMe too.

The Notebook is a lovely movie, even though I hate ryan gosling

Also if you can't cry and show feelings as a male, i feel truly sorry for you. You might grow up to be a fine serial killer someday son, make your country proud.

@SSully: I never said I did. Portal 2 took me a good 8 hours to beat.Oh you said Portal, not Portal 2. What I said in my first post still applies to portal 1. I cannot imagine someone beating that game in 2 hours on their first play through. 4 is do able, but not 2.
Odd how some people haven't heard of it given the recent coverage it's getting for a small title. Anyway, three hours sounds about right for this type of game. I just hope they don't charge too much for it. Flower was great and all but a little pricey for what it was.
@phish09 said:Based on what I was reading on the internet at the time it came out 2 hours was a pretty standard completion time for that game. Only the last couple of test chambers really pose any kind of a challenge and once you get out of that area the puzzles are few and far between until the Galdos fight. Like I say, the last time I played it I beat it in under an hour and I was not trying to rush my way through it either. I think a persons IQ would have to be pretty embarassingly low to take 4 hours to finish Portal. What takes all the time in the Portal games is figuring out what to do, if you don't get stuck anywhere you can just burn through those games. I only remember getting stuck twice in the original Portal, but Portal 2 had quite a few puzzles that stumped me.@SSully: I never said I did. I couldn't stand Flower, but I respect what they were doing. I'm quite interested in Journey and don't care if it only takes 3 hours. In my experience people tend to exaggerate down a good bit on short games. Maybe I'm a complete idiot at games, but I rarely come within an hour of the time people seem to agree a game takes. I suspect but have no evidence that people estimate up on genres where it's considered a viture (RPGs). And again, all money and time you spend is the same. It's not different if you spend it at the movies or playing Black Ops. An 8 hour $60 game is $7.5/hour. Which means a $15 game should be at least 2 hours long (to have the same value).
Because I am of a certain age (old) I can only think of Journey when people talk about this game. The truly crazy thing is that game didn't seem at all crazy back in the day. In an arcade where you'd play a bear, a soap bubble, a zoo keeper, a spider, and a sub-atomic particle being a famous musician didn't seem at all odd.

Limbo was 2 to 3 hours and it was great. I don't have a problem with this.
Also, how do you say your name?
@SeriouslyNow: Sorry but I am not following this guy around and sucking his cock. I dont follow games for a living and just read what is up on the news stories here, ign, kotaku ect. I just have never seen anything on this game and I know I am not alone. So what I feel bad for is that his game is not getting much coverage since it obviously hasn't caught the attention of anyone but those who busted a nut over flower. You come to games website regularly. One of its Star journalists loves the game Flower and it has been mentioned many times on the Bombcast aside from everywhere else, just as flOw was too before it. Sure, Chen has some fans who know more than that but even so this game has been mentioned and trailered a few times here already.
Indeed, the look of the game is simply stunning, looks like a world you can just sit there and get lost in. I also agree on the multiplayer part, i'm really curious to try that out my self.Journey looks interesting and I like what they're doing with the multiplayer component. The art style is so reminiscent of ICO that I'd buy it based on just that, really. It's a real pleasure to look at.

There have been videos on the front page recently about it, including just before E3 if I remember correctly. Never played flower before and the video made me extremely interested. Other sites haven't seemed to be covering that much though, very sad.
Yeah that is very short, but they said the same thing about Flower and I was able to squeeze almost 10 or so out of it by collecting everything, finding a few secrets and stuff.
Also it will probably be just 10 bucks so... I think it will be worth it, especially since it seems the kind of game you would be playing again from time to time, like Flower is to me.

If this is 3 hours it's either going to be hit or miss, based on whether or not this experience can really keep up with what it is about for that long a period of time.
