I'm bracing myself for the inevitable "buy a PS3" comments but i don't see why games like this or Flower can't be multiplatform? I always hear reviewers say that everyone should experience the game so why not make it available to EVERYONE?

Any intelligent answers to this question are welcome.

Braid and Limbo both came to XBLA first (the latter isn't even on PSN yet) and they're both fairly artsy games that arguably deliver better "game" experiences.
 
Also Journey specifically makes use of the Sixaxis.
 
Also money.

Sony gave them money for a 3 game deal, and this is the third game... that's why.

Well Sony published both of these games so thats why they arnt on xbox. Im guessing Sony backed both of the games because they wanted  them as exlusives, I think games like this could come to xbox because I dont think microsft is intentionally trying to aviod them.

Braid and Limbo are nice but i really wanna play Flower but i don't think i should buy a PS3 just for that(i got my sights on Heavy Rain but i'm too poor to buy a new console).

There are certain limitations that Microsoft place on Xbox Live Arcade titles that prevent particular choices in game design from being made--such as a game without a main menu. Aside from this, thatgamecompany has an exclusive deal with Sony.

Flower is dependent on sixaxis control. Kinect would not do this justice.

It sucks, but really at this point in the generation there's no excuse to not own both consoles.

Aside from the deal they made with Sony, most studios don't like developing for two platforms at once and prefer to focus their efforts on one kit. So, they pick one or the other and, maybe, down the line release it for the rest.

You get limbo and Braid....I'm sure some kid out there who owns a PS3 really wants to play Limbo but doesn't think he should buy an xbox just for that....

Journey looks interesting but I wonder if it will hold up once the first faq hits.

They are. You're the one that assumed they are goofy simply because motion controls usually are. One of us has played the game.

Limbo is coming both to the PC(unknown as of yet) and PS3( this July)

I'd think they'd atleast be able to release Journey or Flower on the PC. I can understand not wanting to take a risk with XBLA but a lot of PC gamers LOVE that sorta thing.

@Jedted: After thatgamecompany made Cloud, they signed a three game deal with Sony stating that they would release their next trhee games exclusively on their primary system. So... after Journey, they will release their next games on whatever platform they want.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't the 360 have more exclusive arcade titles than the PS3?

Anyway, I'd love some Flower and Journey on my 360 but I guess that's life :/

I get into conversations like this with my friend sometimes and I think that, as a first party studio and publisher, Sony (probably due to their more international presence) has a markedly different design philosophy and are open to different types of games than Microsoft is. You just have to look at first party exclusives to understand that - Microsoft caters to a primarily American audience. The two platforms undoubtedly have similar games: Microsoft has some more artsy games like Limbo, Sony has more standard games like Killzone. But I don't believe that Microsoft would ever release a game like Heavy Rain in the States simply because it's not really their demographic.

That's not to say that Microsoft doesn't go out on a limb sometimes - they took interest in Super Meat Boy when Sony passed them up and there's a host of XBLA-exclusive games that I adore. I just think that Sony caters to a wider demographic than Microsoft and when it comes to games like Flower or Journey, they're really one of the best partners for indie developers to work with.

Yea, there's really no excuse except for maybe money and not having enough of it (or not being able to justify spending it).
