Keiichi is a Japanese student, how is highly intelligent, however was picked on quite a bit before leaving the city, to come to Hinamizawa. Once he arrived, he quickly made friends with Rena, Mion, Rika and Satoko. During the Onikakushi-hen arc, Keiichi is driven insane with paranoia, and eventually carries Satoko's deceased brother, Satoshi's baseball bat with him everywhere, dissascociating himself from his friends and practicing swinging. He later learns that Satoshi acted similarly to him shortly before his death.
