Kendra Daniels

A young technology specialist who joins Isaac Clarke on distress mission of the Ishimura.

Kendra Daniels is a secondary character in the 2008 action-horror game, Dead Space. She was among the crew sent to the USG Ishimura in order to investigate the ship. She is a technology specialist, with her role in the mission to be one of technical support. Upon arriving on the Ishimura and encountering the Necromorphs, she is the one of the only survivors along the the mission commander Zach Hammond, and player character, engineer Isaac Clarke. Following several other encounters with the Necromorphs, she is separated from the rest of the group, and barricades herself in the computer core of the ship. From there she provides assistance to Isaac and Hammond, guiding their actions, opening security doors, and giving advice.

Daniels is rather unstable during the course of the game, demanding that they abort the mission, and being short tempered. She blames Hammond for leading them into the situation at hand, and expresses distrust in him, accusing him of knowing more about the true nature of the horror then he lets on. As with everyone else exposed to The Marker, Daniels begins to go insane, hallucinating seeing her brother on the ship.

Once Isaac secured The Marker aboard a shuttlecraft, and was preparing to return it to the Aegis VII colony, Daniels betrayed him by hiding in the shuttlecraft, and shooting Dr. Kyne, and abandoning Isaac aboard the doomed Ishimura. After she leaves the ship, she calls Isaac over the RIG revealing to him that she is a covert agent, and knew about the true nature of the mission all along, and was sent to retreive the marker, and bring it back to earth. It is not revealed who she was working for, but given that Daniels was not a Unitologist, and that The Marker was created by the military, it would stand to reason that she was working for the military. However, Isaac remotely overrides the shuttle's controls, and recalls it back to the Ishimura, while Daniels launches an escape pod and lands on Aegis VII. Once Isaac lands on the colony, Daniels confronts him, revealing that Nicole Brennan has been dead the entity of the game, and that Isaac has gone insane like everyone else. Just as she was about to abscond for a second time with The Marker, the Hive Mind rises out of a the planet, and smashes her with one of its tendrils, and slams her against a wall, breaking her back, and severing her arm and leg.

Daniels is voiced by Tonantzin Carmelo, who also provides her likeness for the character.
