kill.switch is a third-person shooter released on Oct. 28, 2003 that features a cover mechanic that was quite revolutionary for its time. This cover mechanic is often seen as the inspiration for the cover mechanics seen in games such as Gears of War for the Xbox 360 and PC.
Kill.Switch is a game that makes early use of the cover system, later seen in Grand Theft Auto IV and Gears of War. It is one of the first game that had covermode as an option, and the game even included blind fire. The game however was extremely short, and suffered from some technical difficulties, and a flat uninteresting story. However, reviewers still saw kill.switch as an innovative breakthrough to the "run and gun" games that were extremely popular at that time.
