It's about 10 minutes and it takes a while to get used to. Don't expect to "get it" on your first go like apparently many others have.

Also, you could have probably posted this in another thread until you actually... y'know... had some impressions to blog about. (Not being a dick by the way, just saying).

visually the game  is definitely one of the best looking out at the moment, i dnt know if its the masterpiece that ppl call it but it really is stunning, the particle effects, motion blur, it all just looks very very nice, and the lighting is incerdible, lens flares when u look at the sun, the water is a tad plain though, and up close some textures are a bit plain.

The demo is single player and has like 2 sections of one level, and yeah it takes about 10 mins to play thru but u will no doubt play thru it more than once. The controls take some getting used to, u hav to toggle iron sights but hold cover, it doesnt really make much sense to me but once uv played it a few times u strt too not notice the awkwardness. For more standard or call of duty controls u can pick the "alternative 2" configuration, but because you have to hold R2 down to stay in cover rather than just press it, it makes close aiming with L1 a little annoying cos your then using both fingers on the shoulder buttons.

Either way you get used to the controls and the game bcomes very fun, a tad hard at times but fun all the same, ull probbaly notice alot of little details in the presentation that most games dont have.

A beautiful game that is fun to play.

p.s the loading screens are semi 3D, tilt the six axis to move them.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. Its a good enough looking game, but no where near what people are saying. xAbleAssassinx said:

I just dont see it, everything is just out of focus. The art style is cool, but best looking game, I dont think so. There is nothing wrong with me or my tv, people are just buying in to the hype.

I don´t know what games you have been playing on your consoles that look better than Killzone 2. Cause none of my PS3 or Xbox 360 games look better than Killzone 2 does right now. There may be some PC games like Crysis and what not. But please tell me what game stacks up against Killzone 2 on either PS3 or Xbox 360, cause i would love to know.

I really enjoyed the demo, even thoug it was very short. But i have played it through 5-8 times now, and i pretty much never do that with a demo, many demos i never even finish all the way through. So i think thats saying something about the game.

And its funny how weeks before the demo came out even before the beta, people where rambeling about the controles. And i was afraid that it would be the thing that would make or brake it for me, but i was releaved when got to experience it, cause its a good controle scheme it works very well, and i dont see why people are crying over it. I like how it feels like there is a weight to your guns and the recoil is very cool too. Its not like running with what feels like a plastic toy gun. Another thin about it is the way you have to manually aim, there is no BS auto aim like in lets say COD4 when you pop into iron sight mode. I really loved that.

The cover system works better than i expected too, very easy to master. So all in all i think its looking very promising."

It seems like a fun competent game, but a very generic single player first person shooter experience. the multiplayer looks like it could be interesting with the class system, but that wasn't in the demo.

some things I noticed in the demo were the reloading animations and enemy's getting shot animations, which both show a lot of detail and they clearly put a lot of work into. your character is also about a foot shorter than the other soldiers, which is a little strange, but not a gamebreaker or anything. the exploding barrels seemed out of place and cliched and the team ai was pretty weak. I had to save one of them at least once every time I played the demo. the writing is really weak too.

overall, I think it'll be fun if first person shooters are your thing, but it would stand out a lot more if they had made it more colorful and hired a story writer to craft a story for it.

Actually it should not be opinion, you can say I like art style x better than killzone's art style. But in termns of graphics, polygons, and physics there is nothing above kilzone 2 currently. Also I think the demo is not a final build, and the retail will look a little better.

Well, try and change his opinion. Nothing beats Killzone technically, but artistically, he can argue. Although I doubt that's what he meant.

I thought it was okay. The controls seem to lag for me for some reason. It doesn't seem as responsive as a Call of Duty 4 when you move the crosshair around. It seems as though there's a 1/4 second lag between when tilting the analog stick to when the character on screen actually moves or do anything else. I hope this will get fixed before the game comes out.

Had no problem getting into it. Just recently played KZ1 so I knew what I was getting into. The demo was way too short though, they should have teased a few more weapons and/or multiplayer. I don't know about those damn menus though. Where they try to make it move around when you're browsing the menus.

The controls have a momentum thing attached to them, once you start to move it's rather slow but speeds up in a few milliseconds (seems fast but it's very noticeable). Voice acting seems mediocre. I never liked the voice actor who played Rico in the first one either, don't know why they brought him back.

Overall: decent demo. It won't set the world on fire and is not going to pull players in, unless they're videophiles.

Edit:Okay, turned up sensitivity and it controls much much better.

The first time I played the demo I thought it was pretty cool. Once i got used to the controls - boosted the sensitivity, everything felt amazing. Ive played the demo 7 times and absolutely love it. Its fantastic. It feels so different than any other FPS I've played in recent memory. The cover system WORKS, and it works well. I CANT WAIT FOR THIS GAME

The demo was a bit on the short side and not quite what i was expecting. The graphics were absolutely overwhelmingly beautifull but the gameplay wasn't on par with the graphics. The AI was fairly good but the way the level was set up was way to static in my opinion, they were just standing and waiting for the player to engage them before sending in a new waves of the red eyed foes.  The shooting mechanics felt very organic and I was really impressed with the way the gun handles itself. The controls were set up pretty good  and I really liked the lean and peak mechanic wich felt a bit like Gears of War and Uncharted. I'm not too sure about Killzone 2 yet but I think it could be a killer multiplayer game.

While I found it enjoyable I also thought the controls hindered the gameplay. This comes from my gripes with the PS3's controller more than from the button layout provided by Guerilla (which you are able to change). Graphics are pretty, but overall it is nothing more than a competent shooter. I am not slighting the game in anyway, I had fun with it. However once the graphics are no longer the best thing seen on consoles I think the game will fade in players' memories. That is unless the multiplayer is specatacular which it very well could be. I realize now that I'm making too many assumptions based off a 5 minute demo, but I think this game might not be as good as the hype for me at least. I'm definitely buying it though because I think it will still be an enjoyable experience.
