Okay so the first killzone was one of my favorite games mainly because my friend and I would just mess around playing splitscreen where we would pit just the two of us against a gang of Helgast, so why is this feature or something like it not in Killzone 2. I love the online, don't get me wrong, but im just kind of bummed I can't play this game splitscreen with a bud of mine. I can't even add bots to an online match becuase the patched that option out

Why no splitscreen?
"LiquidPrince said:Totally agree with Davis [Edit: yeah, read the wrong name for the quote, hence the confusion -- sorry Jon]. I don't remember the last house party I was at that didn't have a console on and some split screen going."Splitscreen is pretty much dead nowadays. "That's a frakkin' fallacy. People still find enjoyment in split-screen and you know it."
i agree, the fact that there is no split screen really made mad, and for the same reason. For me it changes the game from a 10/10 to a 9/10.
"That's a frakkin' fallacy. People still find enjoyment in split-screen and you know it."Split Screen is still enjoyable, it just seems like fewer and fewer games support it anymore.
Skirmish mode would have been awesome splitscreen. Its not to late to make a patch. EPIC just did it with the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3. Not to late Guerrilla.
"My only problem with it was the lack of co-op. It would have been nice to play with a friend in single player campaign for replayability. "I was just coming in here to say that.
Making Splitscreen/Co-Op a part of a game like Killzone 2 and CoD 4 brings a lot of problems with it. Because the game is so action driven and there are lots things happening around you, it would be extremely difficult to make a game like this when there are 2 players, whose actions the developers can't predict. For example. Let's say you and your friend are playing KZ2 Co-Op. And because KZ2 is linear FPS-game, there are "trigger-points" which trigger the next event, for example soldiers running through doors. So you and your friend are playing it. You decide to run through the trigger-points while your friend stays at the very beginning of the level. Should the game trigger the next event? Or would it require both of you to go through the point? In a game where things blow up and you have to be at specific point at the right time. So by this, it would require both of you to go through the point to trigger the next event. But what happens if just one of you does? Can the player go straight to the next cutscene without encountering any enemies? What if one of the players go first. Goes behind enemy lines while the other player triggers the events?
s0liddante said that for him it changes the game from 10/10 to 9/10...have ever thought that Killzone 2 might suck because of the Splitscreen/Co-Op?
" LiquidPrince said:Split-screen isn't dead because there is no need or want for it. Its dead because the hardware can't keep up with the software. Back in the day video games were not very complex so the hardware the games ran on was capable of rendering the the game multiple times over. Now with our fancy pants high def graphics the PS3s and 360s we enjoy so much are only just powerful enough to run the game once. Split-screen just causes big dips in graphical quality if they do it, anyone whose played Left 4 Dead split-screen can tell you it makes it look like it could run on a PS2 and thats only with a limit of two players."Splitscreen is pretty much dead nowadays.
