    If looks could kill...

This is one good looking game, no doubt.

The game immediately impresses with a great opening cinamatic and once you get control, its hard to know what you are supposed to do because you are just checking out the graphics. But like most games with great graphics, that does wear off after a while. But KZ2 continues to impress with good setpieces and somewhat varied locations.

It also has good use of some well worn FPS standars like turrets and vehicle sub missions. These help the game from getting stale as you are gunning down enemie after enemie.

As an FPS, KZ2 does many things "right". It has the actions down and the basics of combat etc. Where it misses is in personality and story. But I don't expect much from most FPSs but for a game to be ranked 5 stars (from me) it has to have a compelling naritive even if that natative is not well fleshed out. And "not feshed out" describes KZ2 story pretty well.

The other main issue I have with the game was the very contraversal feel of the controls. They lag. They lag quite a bit when compared to other FPSs I have played. Also, my TV adds some more lag which when all added together makes the controls feel rather muddy. You can work with and and adjust but the controls just never feel tight and reactive. Its more of a point and squirt feeling than a boom headshot feeling if that makes any sense.

Overall, I think KZ2 is a solid shooter with awe inspring graphis, sound, and music but also has some major missteps in the generic space marine settings and it never lets you know why you are doing all the killing you are doing.

For PS3 console owners, its a must-see but I get the feeling KZ2 will be remembered for its graphics but forgotten in general.

Dazzling technical display that should have been so much more 0

Killzone 2 reviewed on PlayStation 3 It is generally considered that to criticise something for what it does not do is fallacious. After all, it deserves to be judged on its own merits in isolation from what it may or may not have been, and to do so could prove a disservice to its creators. Killzone 2 is ostensibly a shooting game and what it does, it does pretty well. The control scheme is adeptly tailored to the two stick set-up, its visuals are gloriously bombastic and the action itself is m...

      Guerrilla Delivers 0

Killzone 2 probably has one of the most storied histories of any game in the past decade. In its now legendary E3 2005 premiere trailer it became the poster boy for the potential power of the Playstation 3. For the next four years speculation, and hype, or whether or not it could live up to this promise ran wild. Well, the game has finally arrived and I can honestly say that Killzone 2 has set the bar far above for any shooters to follow it on the PS3.You can't start any serious discussion witho...
