Is my copy of Killzone 2 bugged?  (single player)

Aiming, moving, doing anything except shooting seems to be met with a 0.5 second delay.
It feels like I've went back in time and I'm playing CS on a laggy PC.

I had the same problem in the demo. My guess is they turned double buffered vsync off because there is no screen tearing (vsync causes input lag). but you cant turn it off :(

unless they patched that and gave you some kind of option to turn it off im never buying it thats for sure.

It was introduced in a patch, so you may have only played through it before that was released.

@Kamasama: Does the patch completely fix the problem or is there merely a little big less lag?

Yes. The patch fixes it. If you go under the controller menu option you'll see the High Precision, just turn if off.

They reason for the slight lag was that the developer wanted to give the character a sense of weight, like the weapons are heavy for him to carry but Halo has spoiled us all. It has nothing to do with screen taring or any other reason, it was a choice made by the developer. They tried, no one liked it, they patched it, end of story.

@Mordukai: I seriously doubt they intentionally put in lag in the game. If they wanted to give the character the feel of heavyness they'd make that with the animations or the way that the character himself controls, rather then making the on screen cursor and everything about the controls flat-out lag.
I don't play Halo or own an Xbox, lag was just as unacceptable before Halo as it is now. Lag isn't acceptable in any game and if a developer fucks up and releases a game with laggy controls then it is their duty to fix it. If they put in lag intentionally (which I don't beleive), they're idiots.

@mhkjtha: Believe what you want to but what I said before is the truth. They tried and no one liked it and thats why they patched it.

No that's part of the game, they want to see how fustrated you would get pretending weapons has weight and stuff. Wait until the last level where aim is important against impossible odds, your aim is going to be useless and you will die alot.

Have they ever said it was intentional?
Even if they have i'd have my doubts, probably because they didn't want to admit they fucked up.

By the way, I know they never did say that. I know that without even looking it up. Because it wasn't inentional.

 Joystiq news.

@mhkjtha:

Despite being intentionally designed as a "weighty, slower, more tactical first person experience," Killzone 2 is taking some flak for its sluggish controls. Producer Seb Downie had previously stated that "no changes [were] required to the system" with regards to last month's demo, but now that the final game is out, Guerrilla Games is changing its tune. Included in an official list of things to be patched, Downie notes that controller issues are being looked into: "Any possible changes will have to be carefully implemented and tested before being deployed though." This is a stark contrast in tone whereas the previous message implied that Guerilla would not alter anything -- they just might do something now.

And they eventually patched the game to have the Precision option so yes it was intentional.

Yes, they made it clear that it was intentional. You must not have followed the game much.

Well if he's just barely playing it I would assume that.

Am I the only one that didn't mind it? It's honestly not that bad once you get used to it, and still very possible to beat Elite mode with it like that.

@mhkjtha: Man, you are annoying forum poster.

Anyways, the high precision mode fixes it and makes aiming a lot easier. I definitely like it. :)

I have another question about killzone. PLEASE READ. I have unlocked the sniper class in mutiplayer but when I zoom in I cant go up to the next level of precision, do I need to unlock it  or something?

There is NO DELAY/LAG
its just the dead zone is much smaller than most games.  The truth is, the character moves and reacts as fast as your body would. Everybody expects to be able to move as fast as your eyes but thats totally unrealistic. I do agree though, it doesnt really work for games and isnt much fun.
But as for "lag", it always IMMEDIATELY responds once you tilt an analog stick a specific amount, its just that amount is much great than most games, like i said. it was a design choice to give the game a more weighty feel to it.
If you updated the game online, than you can now switch to high precision mode, like others have mentioned.

yes. you have to get  it upgraded. just join sniper only matches. i think you unlock it by getting like 8 sniper kills while cloaked in 8 different matches.
