Just a quick and totally unscientific poll to measure if GB is ready to take the plunge to 'well, bamming' their way through the future.
Giant Bombers, what does your wallet say about Kinect?
Kinect Support
Concept »
Kinect is a camera and depth sensor-based peripheral for the Xbox 360 that allows users to interact with and play games using their whole bodies, rather than using a standard controller.
Have you bought Kinect?
Probably never. I don't care at all for motion controls, at least not enough to buy the necessary accessories even if I had the extra money.
Not yet.
We got one (actually two) at the office, so we've played around with that.
But birthday is coming up and then Christmas. so both Move and Kinect is on the wishlist.
They're also the cheapest gifts on the list so far, so there's a good chance I might get both and a new stereo
I just got it. It's the scariest shit ever. Call me a sucker for initial novelties, but the THING recognizes my hand movements!
I noticed about a second's worth of lag in navigating menus, but...FUCK! That thing I think is called an avatar wearing that Earthworm Jim suit I got it, is replicating my movement!
My experience with Kinnect Adventure so far has been pretty rad. That ball-swatting minigame is kind of nuts. And I unlocked a furry rodent that I've made to yell out "WARP ZONE!" in a digitized voice.
If you've ever had fun at a party with a Wii, then you will probably have more fun with this.
Give me a first person King of Fighters game where I can round house kick a dude in the face, and I'm in.
To be honest, the only thing that looks appealing is Dance Central. That's mostly due to the fact that Harmonix can deliver on the goods when it comes to fun gameplay. Everything else so far seams to be just motion control for games that don't need it ( Sonic Riders...fucking really?) or more crap sport mini games.
See, when the Wii introduced itself, and made some stuff like Wii sports. I'm pretty sure that was all proof of concept to say " Yea it works. Now go make some creative stuff" and by that everyone including Sony and Microsoft thought they meant "Yo Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V dawg".
Seams like out of ALL the motion control stuff only %40 of it is actually very well done.
I want Kinect, but I have two problems.
1. The only room in my house big enough has the WORST TV (its a wood paneled CRT)
2. There is no internet hook up in that room. (also not willing to get the wifi adapter)
People not buying it are haters.
Just as bad as everyone who was Anti-PS3 when it launched. Kinect is the future of gaming, get over that fact. Motion Controls are here to stay and Microsoft was smart enough to revolutionize it. The core gamers don't buy games anymore, and it's the mainstream that love gaming now.
No one's fault but your own. If you bought the games developers spent years making, we wouldn't be having this motion stuff yet.

I read that as "ball-sweating"... eww...
Mine should be hitting my doorstep from Amazon at about the time that I get home from work. I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole thing, but the technology itself is too cool for me not to want to try it out.
AIDS and cancer are here to stay, as well." People not buying it are haters. Just as bad as everyone who was Anti-PS3 when it launched. Kinect is the future of gaming, get over that fact. If you guys bought the games that come out every week we wouldn't be in this mess. Who bought Kane & Lynch 2? Who bought Force Unleashed 2?AIDS and cancer are here to stay, as well. Instead of bitching of how the games weren't what you wanted, why didn't you just buy the game to show your support and show them you want real games?
No but I think it's neat tech and I'm interested.
I would buy it immediately if it worked with the PC and came with an open SDK.
As a gaming appliance for the Xbox360 though, .. not nearly as interested. I'm not seeing the type of games I would want for it either. I'd like to see some more complex 3D puzzles mostly. I think some real-time video with some augmented reality features would be fun too - kind of like what they tried with the eye toy but now with full body motion tracking too.
I don't have the space for it, nor do I need another motion control device to collect dust (my Wii does that just fine). So I guess that means...
