WiiFit didn't fail because that was a standing thing. Motion controls haven't failed because you need to be moving your arms around all the time. Your reap what you sow. This is the athletically fit nightmare all those Wii fans created. Now enjoy. The next Nintendo console will require you to stand on your head while playing.
Kinect Support

Kinect is a camera and depth sensor-based peripheral for the Xbox 360 that allows users to interact with and play games using their whole bodies, rather than using a standard controller.
So, Erm, Natal Doesn't Work When You Sit Down
" I got a question thats been on my mind. Wii and Move have analog stick..but how will you move " Forward back words and side to side" with kentic? How would you navigate in a FPS? Or something like that? "

We saw a demo for a star wars game. However it was very staged. He did not move to go forward.

Hopefully to move forward you stick your right leg out and to move back you stick it back.
So far Microsoft has eliminated two groups of people:
- Those with small living rooms/bedrooms
- Those who have trouble standing up
Congrats Microsoft

Looks like they eliminated everyone with an accent too (at least form using the voice recognition).
i don't know how much better this will work then the stupid PS2 eye toy, but that Eye toy I always had a problem just getting enough light for the freakin thing to work. I know this thing works with a camera so I'm still very hesitant.
I don't see why people are so jazzed about the hand gesturing anyways. Yeah it will be cool to use a few times, a nice thing to show off at parties, but at the end of the day I'll take my Logitech Harmony any day of the week.
This Kinect thing has potential. But as it stands it looks half baked at best. This thing is simply not ready for launch. Neither the hardware or software is up to par.
Well, after all that Microsoft have clarified the issue and IGN have updated their article.
Turns out they were completely wrong about almost every one of their points. More quality journalisim from IGN.
Oh damn, this is a bit of a bombshell. I wasn't exactly expecting to be relaxing in my seat for Dance Central or Kinect Sports but every time I want to navigate a menu, play a racing game or command an RTS I have to be on my feet? I sure as hell hope Microsoft fix this before release (although from what they've shown this thing seems to be nearing the end of it's development cycle) because it will be catastrophic if they don't.

I'm not gonna say the way we interact with user interfaces is perfect at the moment--far from it--, but I'm strongly against the "no device/remote" interfaces, at least in their current form. I think the problem is not in the way we interact with interfaces, but rather the way those interfaces react to our interactions.
I figured that because it uses your whole body... so i don't think it would be able to read you if your sitting down.

IGN are still reporting that developers have told them it just flat-out doesn't work, contrary to what Microsoft have said.
Totilo has just written something about it too. Worrying.
" Totilo has just written something about it too. Worrying. "Was just coming to post this. Rumour's officially back the hell on.
This is just another reason I will not ever jump on the band wagon with these games. I live in a house with fairly small rooms for the most part, not tiny, just not big enough to flail around in. Also, I have all my gaming gear set up in a room on the second floor, and jumping around up there is not an option. This is an old house, floors are solid, but they have some give; a couple of two hundred pound guys kicking and hopping around is not going to be good for the walls and ceiling below us. Hell, a good round of Rock Band makes a lot of noise for any one down stairs, and that is just from people banging on drums and moving around with guitars.
I do not have a Nintendo Wii, and of course no Move, but both of those seem more likely to work in the conditions I have. If I could lean back in my easy chair and wave my arms around with Natal, sigh, Kinect, I could consider it in the future. Until then, I am just really put off by all motion controls period.
yeaaahhh i saw this topic on neogaf. this is automatic failure if it doesnt work. like i've said before, the only thing worth playing on kinect so far is a dance game. other than that, its pointless.
and why does espn thing and menu navigation have to be done using gestures??? i dont get the appeal of this at all.
we all saw how it works. its wayyyyyyyy slower than just using a controller and a bit tedious. even the voice commands were slow and boring.
It seems weird to me that you wouldn't be able to use this sitting down when they've shown so many racing games as demonstrations of the hardware. I mean, who drives a car of any kind standing up? That's just weird.
