I bought it for $3 at a clearance sale.  Any tips?

That sounds like $3 well spent.

Kinetica is by no means a bad game. The interesting character design and unique stunt system set it apart from the pack, but the fluctuating frame rate, track design issues, and poor sensation of speed hold it back from being a really good futuristic racing game. However, if you've already burnt yourself out on the PS2's other futuristic racing game, Extreme-G 3, and simply cannot wait until the release of WipeOut Fusion next year, Kinetica can serve as a proficient placeholder.

Did WipeOut Fusion come out yet?

@luce: I had no idea what this game was when I bought it.
I have played some wipeout and enjoyed it.  I have little PS2 racers though since it's my brothers genre not mine.

Kinetica is pretty neat. It did have a pretty awesome commercial (from the PS2 days / my childhood remembering a video game commercial on TV) as well.

The stunts are neat, but I never got any good at the game. I like the Bike suits though. neat idea at the least.

I first thought it was a game for the Kinect judging by the name. Go figure

Apparently it was made by the God of War people and is the first game they made with this engine that was used for a lot of their games since including God of War 2

Ahh I remember playing this game so long ago. It was if I remember correctly fun enough to keep me going. Wipeout was soooooooooooooo much better though.

Hm, I'm pretty sure I played a demo of it at one time, I remember it being ok, the concept was kind of crazy.

Found a trailer that makes it look kindof awesome:
