I just seen this game on the new releases section here on GB and I have to say I had no idea what this game even was. After some searching I found out it's the next game from Game Republic, who have made some pretty hit and miss games in the past. I know them because I loved Genji: Dawn of the Samurai and Folklore - but some of their other games like Genji's sequel aren't really that great. I give credit to this developer though after playing the amazing Folklore.

Here's a gameplay snippet of Knights Contract:

To be honest the game actually doesn't look half bad. The main difference about it is that the character you control is actually immortal and invincible - it's the secondary character that you need to protect and it looks like there is even a "carry" function. So if you liked Jabu Jabu's Belly dungeon in Ocarina of Time you'll be right at home here. It also looks like you can use some of her magic, as she is a witch. The game should be arriving on February 22... hopefully they'll release a demo because it sounds interesting. Gonna be hard to pull off the whole "protecting the character" style of gameplay without being annoying though.

Looking at some of the games they made, some of them are solid and some of the are complete trash.  Hope this one makes the solid list.

Looks good but I despise games where you have to protect someone.

I did not realize that Game Republic made this. As a fan of Foklore and Majin, I'm a hell of a lot more excited for this than I was 2 minutes ago. Sadly they couldn't have picked a worse release date with KZ3 and Bulletstorm out on the same day and DA2 two weeks later.

I don't like protecting or carrying people in games. I'll probably rent it though.

Just beat the first boss. This game is baaaaaaad!

First of all it looks like an uprezzed PS2 game. The enemy models in particular have so many right angles I thought I was back in 1998. Textures are a blurry mess (especially in cutscenes).

Combat is... lacking. You got a light and heavy attack and a grab as well as a roll. To target an enemy you need to hold the left bumper and if you want to use a spell you hold the right one then use the face buttons, so basically you're holding down 3 buttons when they could have assigned it to just one. There's no block either (or at least I couldn't figure out how use it).

Animations and voice acting are pretty poor as well (the lip syncing is especially bad).

Overall I give this game 2/5 and I never want to touch it again.

Just put 2 hours in that's all I could stand. Interesting story, decent enough combat mechanics, but the frame rate issues make this game unplayable. Really a shame. Perfect example is the second "boss" battle, when your whit less sidekick is all of a sudden dead and your forced to continue, the entire sequence moves at about 20 frames per second. Ugh.
