Unlike many platforming games, including Knytt's predecessor Within a Deep Forest, Knytt is not a very challenging game. There are very few enemies to be found, and while it is possible to die if you touch water, you have an infinite number of lives. Indeed most players will probably finish Knytt without ever dying. The game is also very short, so short that it can be finished in under two hours.
For all of the above reasons Knytt can be seen as an important release in the casual gaming scene. The main focus of the game is exploring the scenery of the world. Your character can run, jump, and climb walls. This last ability allows the player to explore the game from the very bowels of the earth, all the way up to kingdoms in the clouds.
However the game has not entirely escaped criticism. A number of users responding to the Jayisgames review complained that they didn't feel the game had enough substance. "I almost feel like...why go to the trouble of building such a neat little world without adding in a few puzzles, plot, or dialogue?" said one user.
Take control of one of the Knytts from Within A Deep Forest as he is abducted from his home by an alien, but they crash onto a lonesome planet. Collect the missing ship parts as you explore the planet.
Overview
Knytt, Nifflas' follow up to the pioneering Within a Deep Forest, is an adventure platforming game that follows the adventure of a small creature--a knytt--who is abducted by an alien. Before the alien can break out any unpleasant probes disaster strikes. The alien crashes the ship, which breaks up into several parts. Having survived the crash (because otherwise it wouldn't be much of a game) it's up to you to explore the planet, recover the space ship parts and return them to the alien so it can rebuild the space ship and take you home.Gameplay
In terms of concept the game's premise is very reminiscent of the first Toe Jam and Earl game for the Sega Genesis, but outside of collecting space ship parts the games share nothing. Knytt is a side scrolling platformer created using Multimedia Fusion. In the game you explore a series of screens that taken together create a single world. There are no levels in Knytt.Unlike many platforming games, including Knytt's predecessor Within a Deep Forest, Knytt is not a very challenging game.
