Overview

Koopas are very common in the Mario franchise. They come in various shapes and sizes. Let's meet some of the Koopas that appear in the series, starting with the King of Koopas:

Notable Koopas

  • Bowser, the King of Koopas
Bowser - The Koopa King. He is Mario's arch-enemy in various titles. He can breathe fire and pummel foes with his massive girth. Sometimes he participate in Mushroom Kingdom-sponsored sports events.
  • Bowser Jr. - Bowser's youngest son. He stole a magic paintbrush in Super Mario Sunshine which he used to vandalize Delfino Island. With his determination to some day beat Mario, and his love for causing mischief, he is a chip of the old block.
  • Baby Bowser - Bowser as a baby in both Yoshi's Island games.
  • Kamek - The magikoopa who kidnapped Baby Luigi and raised Bowser into becoming the king we all have come to know.

General Minions

  • Koopa Troopas - The most common type of koopa. They come in a number of colors, though red and green are the most common.
  • Koopa Paratroopa - Just like ordinary Koopa Troopas, except from the fact that they're flying.
  • Lakitu as seen in Mario Kart Wii, giving the signal to start the race.
Lakitus - Bespectacled koopas who sit atop of clouds and throw Spinies at their enemies. They can sometimes be friendly, and have made an appearance various in spin-off games like Mario Kart, Mario Baseball & Mario Tennis.
  • Koopa Kids - Minions of Bowser who resemble minature versions of the Koopa King himself. One was made playable in Mario Party 5 and Mario Party 6. Koopa Kids love to cause trouble on various gameboards.
  • Hammer Bros. - Among Bowser's elite minions, these koopas usually come in pairs. They have been given helmets and an endless supply of hammers.
  • Fire Bros. - Another variation of Hammer Bros.! They can breathe fire just like Bowser!
  • Boomerang Bros. - A variation of the regular Hammer Bros.. Instead of hammers, they chuck boomerangs after their enemies.
  • Magikoopas - Koopas who have learned the ways of magic.
  • Dry Bones - Reanimated koopas that are really hard to defeat.
