I started watching the two best friends 2nd annual shitstorm of scariness and yesterday they played kuon. Holy fuck is this game awesome. It's a ancient japan resident evil game made by From software.

It has the same magic system as dark souls and the coolest way to save your game ever, you just gotta see it. it's fucking creepy as hell and for a ps2 game it looks oddly really good.

Patrick was sent a copy of this and damn I hope he plays it on spookin with scoops.

I saw that video as well and now I really wanna play it. Looks pretty cool as you said.

I like how frequent the combat seemed and how it often had some neat way of triggering it, like the floor giving way under your character and enemies surrounding your character as you character struggled to get up.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the corporate status of Agetec (the game's publisher) is. I haven't seen a new release bearing the company's name since Way of the Samurai 3. It would be awesome if they did release Kuon to PSN, though.

Patrick seems dedicated to playing PC titles on Spookin' With Scoops since that's easy to do. I'm not sure what his technical capabilities for streaming a PS2 game are. If he could, though, he'd have a lot of great games to choose from, Kuon among them.

I hope Patrick figures out a way to stream this. Because feudal zombies intrigue me.

I know that, but as far as I know, Agetec still has the North American publishing rights, which means that they would be the ones to do the paperwork on a PSN release for North America, not From.

I remember reviewing that game back when it was released. I ripped it a new one, remember it being pretty fucking terrible.

I'll have to go back and try it out again.

That's the same thing I thought when I read that.

Come on, people. Onimusha isn't that obscure now, is it?

It's not Onimusha. Onimusha takes place in the Warring States era. Kuon takes place hundreds of years earlier in the Heian era and is more about the mysticism of onmyouji than anything related to samurai or ninja.

@hailinel: Didn't say this game was onimusha.

I implied this game is being said to basically have the same premise as Onimusha and lamented how weird it was no one had mentioned that until Video Game King.

    Reading comprehension works for me!

    @hailinel:

To be fair, "feudal Japan Resident Evil game" is an apt description for both games (on a technical level, Warring States saw a lot of feuds in Japan).

There's a pretty big difference between Japan of the Heian and the Warring States eras. Also, technically speaking, the Heian era isn't part of Japan's feudal history.

Only marginally my problem, sort of.
