First city to be attacked by an oblivion gate.

Kvatch is a city on top of a mountain in the Gold Coast, between Anvil and Skingrad. In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the player will find out that it has been destroyed by an Oblivion Gate and the daedric creatures. The Oblivion gate will be the first gate the player will close in the game. In the ruins, the castle and the chapel remain standing. Also you can see the remnants of an arena. Before the Oblivion crisis, Kvatch had been destroyed before by Camoran Usurper, an invader with an army daedra and undead who tried to invade Tamriel. Throughout the game Kvatch will remain a ruin and will never be fixed, though some mods have been made that rebuild Kvatch for the PC.
