In this thread: games peaked at pong.

Why is it that a something must either be a non-interactive cinematic experience or a pure game with incidental story and aesthetics? There are so many possibilities to ride the line between the two, unfolding a story while immersing you through interaction. The scoring solidifies the gameplay aspect, and while it doesn't alter the plot so much that it would compromise the focus of the script, it does impact exactly how much of the pieces you successfully put together, which is perfect for noir.

Who are these people that take the time to constantly complain about threads they don't approve of?  "OH GOD ITS ANOTHER ONE OF 'THESE' THREADS".  The same could be said of posts like that.  Oh gee, another dude who disagrees with somebody saying something on a message board.  If it bothers you so much, ignore it.

And as far as the idea that it's really super cool to hate on "popular" games - that is ridiculous.  L.A. Noire is a "popular" title because of it's massive marketing and new tech.  It isn't like ironically hating the Beatles.  The game has some big flaws and has very little to offer in the way of "gaming".  It is an interactive movie with serious pacing and plot issues.  Characterization is sometimes weak, the ending lacks emotional punch and side characters never even change their clothes (immersive!)

Taken as a game or an interactive movie, LA Noire has issues.  It's ok to talk about them.

The majority of the characters are great aside from Cole who falls a little flat, for a game that is suppose to be focused on the story of main story plot and conclusion is average at best I finished it thinking 'that was it?'

Thats fine in other threads except this guy doesn't even discuss the games problems or even why he doesn't seemed to be enjoying it. His whole post boils down to "I don't really like it, just cause". He bizarrely restarts cases when he get a question wrong which isn't going to help anyones enjoyment of this. He asks people what they like about the game when its clear that he knows what people like about the game. The whole thing is pointless, I wouldn't mind as much if it was a blog post but it isn't, he should have gone to another thread and posted it there or made a blog post about it.
