L.A. Noire Coming to PC This Fall
Don't assume your experiences with that game to speak for everyone else's. The vast majority of people had problems with this game, regardless of machine power (as you can see in that DF video). It's not univerally recognized as a bad port for nothing.
I do, however, hope that LA Noire will be different in that regard, so that both you and I can enjoy it for the great game it is.
@DonPixel: Amazing reply! You totally got me there! Don't assume your experiences with that game to speak for everyone else's. I universally recognise that GTA IV for the PC was a mediocre port.
But I already bought and finished this game within a day after launch. What's the point of buying it again? I mean, until it's $5 on Steam, someday, of course. Also, I wonder how compressed it will be. If the PS3 version is 38-50gb and the 360 version is 20gb . . . those are all sizes that you just don't see on the PC (though I don't see why not).
I can sometimes understand DLC coming out later (though not much later), but I just don't get waiting months or a year to release on other platforms or to release bug patches. If I want to play the game, I'm going to buy it when it launches; not wait six months. And once I've finished the game, what does it fucking matter what fixes you make?
Can't wait to have to log in to 7 different accounts and install all sorts of shitty DRM!
Brought GTA IV + DLC for $10 in a steam sale not too long ago and I closed the fucking game when it told me I couldn't save my game unless I registered in 3 different places.
I really can't be bothered with your shit Rockstar, it's downright inconvenient to play a game I don't have much of an interest in anyway.
Actually it all depended on the compatibility with your graphic card... I can run The Witcher 2 on High settings but GTA's framerate was utterly shit. Rockstar make the worst PC ports ever. I hope they have learned a few things from last time.@Laketown said:

Here's hoping the game is optimized. Rockstar has a crummy track record of optimizing console ports for PC.
Thats rubrish whining.. GTA4 was optimized for multicore runs like butter with better visuals in any i5+ ... The initial whining comes for dual core owners.
no, I have a AMD quad core and it still ran pretty badly.
MMokay ?
Looking forward to trying this - it always seemed like a PC style of game to me.
RE: The port of GTA IV on the PC, it is far and away the best version of the game so long as your machine can handle it. The performance is flawless on a i5 2500k and GTX 570 video card, and along with the resolution bump the view distance and detail sliders make it a much better looking game. It may of been spotty at release but most PC games are now it seems. Some people forget that GTA IV was also too ambitious for consoles, I played through it on PS3 first, and it seemed like frame rate must of dipped down to 10 - 15 frames at times.

Fact of the matter is, there's an insane amount going on in GTA 4 that isn't apparent at first. I'm still surprised they got it running on a 360 to be honest.
The world of LA Noire is far more sparse than liberty city so that means less processing power. I doubt this port will have the same issues. Hope not at least...

If so at least for L.A. Noire and with the current state of Hardware capabilities the question should be: How much can they actually improve the visuals instead of just hopping for a better frame rate/resolution ?
The game is at least 20GB when installed on 360, so i hope PC gamers are prepared for a chunk of their hard-drive to go.

Check out the developer diaries for the facial capture - the images they captured were of a significantly higher res and greatly more detailed than what they had in the final game, which was already pretty impressive.
If that makes it across in the port, I'd be happy.
Meh, I'm a PC gamer, but I'm still skeptical, probably just gonna be a bad port, I will hold my judgement though!

I don't understand why rockstar always releases the pc version of a game way past the initial release date.
The console versions are made and finished first because they as a company and business want the maximum biggest profit that they can manage to get in the time frame of: "ASAP". And at the earliest possible point out of the gate, and since the majority of gamers out in the world are console based gamers the PC version will always get second hand treatment.
That is unless the scales of gamer interests tips in the PC's direction again. Doubtful unfortunately.
PC gamers are lucky at all these days that the Xbox 360 has a similar coding setup to pc based games, as it would take much longer to get to the PC, if at all, if the Xbox 360 coding wasn't similar.
Also, To everyone in general, Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I sold my Xbox 360 days before this game came out and resolved to play games much less, which I'm managing to do, but that doesn't mean I have to stop playing games entirely does it? He he he!
