What is it with rockstar games this gen and the seemingly constant inferior PS3 Ports?  (EDIT: PS3 is lead platform, not a port. Pardon my ignorance.) (EDIT 2: Looks like the guy who made the image grabbed the PS3 "Screens" from the trailer video.)

Thats a noticeable diference.

Goddamnit, I was hoping I wouldn't have to change my pre-order.

#3 Posted by Gabriel (4082 posts) -

The 360 version seems darker thats about it, though if the 360 version is indeed better than PS3 I'd laugh. Even getting a head start as a PS3 exclusive yet look inferior than Xbox would be crazy.

Appears to be a higher contrast ratio on the 360 version.

Has the window in the PS3 version been broken or it just doesn't have reflections?

#6 Edited by AhmadMetallic (18954 posts) -

Edit: the PS3 shots are taken from Youtube.. they're from the trailers, NOT actual gameplay

this is a big hoax to get people to switch their pre-order

I'd say the PC owners are getting the raw end of the deal, to be honest.
But yeah, that seriously is a big difference.  Are those both from the final version?

@Gabriel: take a good gander at each of the pillars and the indoor area. Textures seems muddy on the PS3 version :(

Broken you can see a shard of glass sticking out.

Because the PS3 is harder to develop for and no developer wants to take the time to put in extra effort when people are going to buy it either way.

Or something like that.

That washed out look makes me think whatever PS3 was used wasn't set to full range HDMI, could be wrong, but that seems like a textbook case of someone forgetting to enable that option.

The xbox version looks a little better and yes the window is broken look at the shard sticking out on the bottom.

Look at those pillars, there is detail on the xbox 360 version and not the ps3. So it's going to be the same deal with all the gta games and red dead redemption. I would need a full size picture, but I can already see the ps3 version is like at X600 rez and the xbox 360 is at 720p. Also the xbox 360 has depth of field, you can see things blurry up close like the tile on the wall and foreground, also it's clear futher away. This takes more processing power. Of course the textures overall is better on the xbox 360.

I don't own a xbox 360, maybe it's about time I just stop complaining and buy one. Even if I have to get the 4 gig version, maybe this game would change my mind.

Huge difference in lighting effects between the two versions, too. Look at the arches.

It was made for the PS3 1st....

#17 Posted by Elbon (368 posts) -

the ps3 version looks better the xbox360 is way to dark

#18 Posted by louiedog (2335 posts) -

There goes the "it's the leadplatform" advantage that a lot of people were using when deciding between 360 and PS3. Any more shots in other environments?

#19 Posted by Crixaliz (782 posts) -
@EuanDewar: @Gabriel: Oh I see it now. Thanks
#20 Posted by zombie2011 (5052 posts) -

weird wasn't this a PS3 exclusive at first?

#21 Posted by Claude (16254 posts) -

That's a pretty big difference if you ask me. The Xbox 360 textures and lighting are a lot better.

#22 Posted by Zabant (1268 posts) -

I guess the whole 3 discs and bonus ps3 content thing evens out the deal.

This disparity is kinda unacceptable though considering the ps3's power.

PS3 version looks like shit.

I can't wait to see the shit storm when MGS:R looks better on 360 too.

omg hahahahhahaah oooooh no you didn't xD

you did didn't you? haha!

Aside from the brightness the textures do look a little muddy but frankly I would rather have it all on one disk than have slightly better textures in places.

#26 Posted by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -

The PS3 textures seem worse and there isn't any reflection on the window. However it does look like the PS3 has better lighting, but that could be due to the different contrasts in the rips.

#27 Posted by Zabant (1268 posts) -
This one isnt as bad. Though both look sucky here, might be the guy doing the comparisons' error.
#28 Posted by Daveyo520 (7008 posts) -
@Zabant: Where did you get the shots from? Are you sure that is a finished version of the PS3?
#29 Posted by RiotBananas (3600 posts) -

So it seems I've changed my mind, 3 DVDs are better than 1 BluRay.

That's enough of a difference for me to buy it on 360 now.

#30 Posted by ChristianCastillo (1162 posts) -

The wall texture looks better on the ps3 though, the 360 graphics are a bit too dark

Yeah. Compare the mini-maps. The PS3 version is washed out in comparison. I wonder if they really did mess around with that.

It's just one screenshot.

I gotta call bs on this one. No way there's that much of a difference.

I never believe the comparison shots, the 360 one just looks hella lot darker than the ps3 one.

@Claude: My thoughts exactly. It can't be THAT different.

...right?

The contrast is way off in the PS3 one. The blacks are gray looking instead of being stretched to the bottom end of the spectrum.

Wasn't this a PS3 exclusive at one time?

Is Rockstar that bad at developing for the PS3 or just lazy?

Does it even have 7.1 audio or did they skimp on that too and kept it with shitty 5.1 DD?

#43 Posted by Kjellm87 (1722 posts) -

Man oh man, ain't easy being a hardcore it seems,
they both seem fine enough, talk like this just ruins the game experience.

#44 Posted by MooseyMcMan (11411 posts) -

They stated PS3 was the lead platform. For years the game was a PS3 exclusive. Regardless of which version is better, the PS3 version is not a port. This is fact. Fact that I'm too lazy to back up. Go find it yourself.

#45 Posted by Daveyo520 (7008 posts) -
@ChristianCastillo: I am sure you can turn the brightness up.

Look at the second set of screenshots and the textures on both.
It's definitely not just a lighting difference.  Really shocking if that is from the final build.
#47 Posted by PrivateIronTFU (3874 posts) -

Ugh. I need a break from the internet. People are getting way too whiney.

It's never even been 5.1 in any Rockstar game. Just 5.0. The subwoofer channel has been ignored through the entirety of this generation in Rockstar games.
#49 Edited by HitmanAgent47 (8576 posts) -

Post your source for these screenshots. I don't doubt it because this game like all multiplatform doesn't use the cell processor, but mostly the gpu which the ps3 has less allocated vram overall and less power. I have to know whether to get a xbox 360 for this game or not.

#50 Posted by SpartanAmbrose (834 posts) -

That can't be the final build of the PS3 version. It just CAN'T be!
