In case you didn't already know, Ryan's been playing LoL over the past few days. I came across this on his Twitter:
League of Legends
Game » consists of 3 releases. Released Oct 27, 2009
A free-to-play competitive MOBA game with a large following in eSports. From the original developers of DotA: Allstars, the game expands the gameplay found in DotA by adding persistent Summoner profiles and a variety of original champions who fight for you on the battlefield against bots or one another.
League of Legends TNT!(?)
Holy shit. If it's this Thursday I need to know in advance so I can swap shifts at work with somebody.
I would love it if they did a LoL and a DOTA TNT. That would fantastic.I've not actually played the original DOTA. How does it compare?

depending on who you ask, DoTA is either more "hardcore" that league of legends, or antiquated as shit

DotA is far more complex. When Riot was making League, they stripped away a lot of mechanics of DotA in order to make it easier to pick up. If that sounds good, play League. If that sounds bad, play Heroes of Newerth, because HoN is almost identical to DotA, even going so far as having a lot of the same items and heroes, just with different names. HoN (and DotA) are a lot faster and less forgiving.
Dave must be present and playing during TNT as well. I mean, I humbly ask that Dave be present during that TNT and also be given the opportunity to play, Ryan.
@Azteck: Think the ping would be to bad for a EU match, even if they were able to use the NY servers the lag would make it unplayable for most people in the EU, Not to mention that they would have to make 2 EU accounts for both West and East
I play on the EU West servers and at times due to traffic we are kicked on to US servers and get a ping of around 100 or so. It's perfectly playable.@Azteck: Think the ping would be to bad for a EU match, even if they were able to use the NY servers the lag would make it unplayable for most people in the EU, Not to mention that they would have to make 2 EU accounts for both West and East
I'd be up for this, as a longterm dots player, I actually vastly prefer LoL. It's basically a more refined version of the original concept, with a lot more interesting and unique concepts, and a bit more variety in itemization (as the idea of str/agi/int heroes is just gone). It makes sense, most of the original dota team works for Riot, as opposed to the guy who just updates/balances dota. It's not too hard to get into, since you'll be placed with people the same level (aka, other noobs) as you most of the time.
Nevermind that Dominion looks awesome, potentially more interesting than the entirety of dota 2 for me.
I don't see the staff having a great chance of success with this game. Nothing I've seen thus far has given me any reason to believe they would have the quick reflexes/thinking you see in a typical match. Maybe I'm wrong. I guess it could be entertaining if they check out a random server and showcase people raging and yelling at you for not being perfect.
