League of Legends TNT!(?)

#1 Posted by FlamingHobo (4479 posts) -

In case you didn't already know, Ryan's been playing LoL over the past few days. I came across this on his Twitter:

So, looks like you might want to start getting some practice in for possible upcoming League of Legends, Thursday Night Throwdown!

It'll probably be either that or SFIII: 3rd Strike OE next week.

Holy shit. If it's this Thursday I need to know in advance so I can swap shifts at work with somebody.

I would love it if they did a LoL and a DOTA TNT. That would fantastic.

I've not actually played the original DOTA. How does it compare?

depending on who you ask, DoTA is either more "hardcore" that league of legends, or antiquated as shit

denying what the fuuuck

He's just practicing for the five million dollar prize

#12 Posted by pubbles (139 posts) -

Man it would be fantastic if 5 whisky media employees would get good and do it, but theres no way they'll have the time. Still would definitely participate in a LoL TNT

#13 Posted by Vision (796 posts) -

@FlamingHobo: DoTA is heavier on mechanics, whereas LoL is heavier on the thinking game.

I'm glad I started LoL recently.

Also of note on the latest Bombcast Patrick was requesting some sort of daily Dota 2 video series, and a Dota team consisting of the GB guys.

DotA is far more complex. When Riot was making League, they stripped away a lot of mechanics of DotA in order to make it easier to pick up. If that sounds good, play League. If that sounds bad, play Heroes of Newerth, because HoN is almost identical to DotA, even going so far as having a lot of the same items and heroes, just with different names. HoN (and DotA) are a lot faster and less forgiving.

Dota>LoL Come on guys, i shouldn't even have to say that.

Oh SHIT. I am SO in.

Time to make a US account :P.

Dave must be present and playing during TNT as well. I mean, I humbly ask that Dave be present during that TNT and also be given the opportunity to play, Ryan.

They should do one on the EU servers though. Like.. one on the US and one on the EU one? They'll never make it past 3 games if they are decent at all

I would love a TNT and to see Ryan playing LoL, has been great hearing him talk about it this last week.

#22 Posted by ToxicFruit (1717 posts) -

@Azteck: Think the ping would be to bad for a EU match, even if they were able to use the NY servers the lag would make it unplayable for most people in the EU, Not to mention that they would have to make 2 EU accounts for both West and East

#23 Posted by Azteck (7450 posts) -
@Toxic: Ugh, true. I just really don't feel like starting off with only random champs and lag if I were to participate with a US account.
#24 Posted by Vision (796 posts) -

@Toxic: The lag isn't that bad, actually. I play with my US friends on both the US and EU servers without a problem.

#25 Posted by ChickenPants (934 posts) -

Might have to create a US account in preparation for this.

I'd love to try and play LoL on TnT!

I have about in total of 4 weeks.. maybe 5 of LoL experience. All with mainly Vayne. A bit of Sivir and Caitlyn but not much.

This game has been out since 09 and I can't believe I'm just starting to play now.

if they ever do a league tnt i would deem it an illegal level of awesome. srsly i would call into work (i work 3rd shift).

I play on the EU West servers and at times due to traffic we are kicked on to US servers and get a ping of around 100 or so. It's perfectly playable.

I'd be up for this, as a longterm dots player, I actually vastly prefer LoL. It's basically a more refined version of the original concept, with a lot more interesting and unique concepts, and a bit more variety in itemization (as the idea of str/agi/int heroes is just gone). It makes sense, most of the original dota team works for Riot, as opposed to the guy who just updates/balances dota. It's not too hard to get into, since you'll be placed with people the same level (aka, other noobs) as you most of the time.

Nevermind that Dominion looks awesome, potentially more interesting than the entirety of dota 2 for me.

OF COURSE THEY DO THIS WHEN I'M OUT OF THE OFFICE

/rage

I don't see the staff having a great chance of success with this game. Nothing I've seen thus far has given me any reason to believe they would have the quick reflexes/thinking you see in a typical match. Maybe I'm wrong. I guess it could be entertaining if they check out a random server and showcase people raging and yelling at you for not being perfect.

#32 Posted by Maginnovision (483 posts) -

I think it'd be better for them to wait for dominion considering the supposedly shorter match times would mean more people getting a chance. Not that it matters to me since I work monday through friday.
