Well, the people who Pre-Ordered it obviously got it early, but since it was just released to the public today I want to see what the impressions are.
For me, It just seemed like a shoot em up.
Left 4 Dead
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Nov 18, 2008
Left 4 Dead puts players in the role of one of four survivors during a zombie apocalypse. Survivors will depend on co-operation to get from one safe house to another, while facing hordes of "Infected", four of which can be controlled by human players in certain game modes.
Left 4 Dead demo impressions (Those of you who just got it today)
Seemed like it'll be my second favorite game of the year. The music is fantastic, the visuals are fantastic, the AI and forced teamwork all work great. Love it.
I've only played one match but I like it so far. The AI director works really well and does change things up when you play a level again (we died a couple of times and it was different every time).
"Seemed like it'll be my second favorite game of the year. The music is fantastic, the visuals are fantastic, the AI and forced teamwork all work great. Love it."I don't know. It just seemed like to many enemies swarmed the screen and the only logical thing to do is rapidly pull the trigger. The visuals were pretty amazing, and the music was good, but the whole teamwork thing didn't work that well. All they did was get in the way and impair my aim.
"TheGTAvaccine said:I played with great teammates, and it was cool to discover shooting everything every second wasnt working on the harder difficulties. You have to keep in mind where your teammates are and work together to conserve ammo, and ultimately, survive."Seemed like it'll be my second favorite game of the year. The game is really beautiful, I love the mocap zombies, best mocap zombies ever, and they run and move so naturally. Whoever thought the graphics were weak in this, just havn't seen it.
But... Its all over so fast. I mean the two demo leves are over in about 15 mins combined. And there will only be 20 levels total. that seems kinda short. Even with the director changing things up. Maybe the difficulty will really help change that up too. Normal and Hard were pretty easy though, and its over in a blur. But hopefully many new situations will open up in the full game to utilize strategy. In the Demo it doesnt really show any hint of needing a strategy. You just plow from one area to the next and the safe rooms are such a short distance. You can make it to the first safe room in about 5 mins once you know where it is, even less if you just ran the whole way. Then the second one is only a little farther. Hopefully they will be farther away in progressivly more difficult levels.
"TheGTAvaccine said:I repeatedly shot some idiot who kept running in our way, killing him in the process, then called him a faggot for not listening to us. He quit after that."Seemed like it'll be my second favorite game of the year. The music is fantastic, the visuals are fantastic, the AI and forced teamwork all work great. Love it."I don't know. I love it, it's all that I expected it to be and then some.

The logical thing is to Melee attack first, then start a shooting spree while targeting, otherwise, you will just end up losing your bearings and shooting your team members and blaming them for impairing your aim ;) The bots are fine, I had no problem with them at all,
It's a absolutely beautiful game, It looks amazing in maximum settings, much better than the 360 version imo. Amazing sound and element effects also. I am going to be playing this solid for months to come, of that I am sure.
Pffft whatever....this is probably my game of the year! i prefer single player, i'd rather do that than play with 3 other randoms, if it was people i know, even better.
"The thing is that it's only about 1 and a half levels. The second level is only half there in the demo, so they aren't that short.

I just found the demo, pretty fun stuff. I enjoy the idea of working as a team and fighting for survival, unfortunately it seems that's not a view point held by all the players I ran into. This was especially true when I ran into a group of three of disliked the "darky" and would shoot me or simply leave me to die...
Ah, I remember why I don't play online games that much any more.
Played two times threw it with randoms. It's fucking awesome. Waiting for my friends to dl it and try it then.
Totally gonna get this and force my friends to do it when it comes out.
"I think its really freaking awesome.
I keep playing as the gurl cuz she's hawt but I no that she's really a slut cuz I was talking to sum people and they told me what was up."
People will heal you more, and save you more.
"Levio91 said:Theres no zombie horses and the spawn bases arent castles and theres no bows and arrows and levios is a bit dim"Its really boring."How do you find it boring? Playing on Easy or Normal? This is far from boring (unless you stand in your spawn forever)."
"Emilio said:That is the truth."I think its really freaking awesome.

"
Expert Mode can go suck a dick, though.
"Emilio said:I concur."Demilich said:"Levio91 said:Lol dude ur so smashed, bro!!""Its really boring."
i no rite??? we shaujd pehmtlount a&labednaoiehfhl#^"
Actually I haven't even opened my bottle of 42 Below yet. I was doing intelligence contrast. I just made that up, cool hey?"
Again, Expert Mode can go suck a weener.
"Expert mode is really hard unless you have competent players, but I find it more fun failing on expert than succeeding on advanced."Yes, that's pretty fantastic. Some French guy and I kept trying to get through the second level, but our two other guys didn't have mics and they both sucked.
I liked it a lot. The only thing you need is some good people to play with, aka, people that help you out and fight as a team. The times I played with douche bags I hated it, dudes would not get into the safe rooms, would not revive you, would not even kill the smoker that currently raping ya and would just shoot you instead of zombies. So first thing when I get the game, find 3 good friends.
I found it much more fun with friends than bots.
We spent 2 hours failing on Expert yesterday and now one of those friends and I are debating whether to get this, or Gears 2.
It feels like the melee may be a little too over-powering because you could just do than into a crowd of zombies and stay alive (Until a boss zombie comes that is), but overall, our collective group found it to be extremely fun.
Found it boring.
Graphics are meh
Animations are okay
Weapons look dull after Cod 4
Run and gun get's dull
Really sucks if playing with anonymous online - need 3 friends for concept to work
Next.....
The game is great, but it is meant to be played with FRIENDS. I hate playing it with random people, but when I played with my friends, god, what a great experience, this is just what me and my friends needed to get the stress out of our body! The game looks and runs amazingly well even with the screen filled with zombies, I really like the "film noise" aspect of the visuals, really awesome.
I just wish there were more weapons, anyone knows if valve is gonna update the game with more weapons/maps in the future?
AWESOME, AWESOME AWESOME! everything I wanted it to be!
it may just be a shooter, but it's an awesome 4-player co-op zombie shooter...
I'm calling it right now, THIS WILL BE THE BEST ZOMBIE GAME EVER!
