    Left 4 Dead

Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Nov 18, 2008

Left 4 Dead puts players in the role of one of four survivors during a zombie apocalypse. Survivors will depend on co-operation to get from one safe house to another, while facing hordes of "Infected", four of which can be controlled by human players in certain game modes.

    So close

When I first heard there would be an AI director I thought about infinite replayability. When I heard it only pertained to spawning zombies, my enthusiasm dropped a bar, when I played the demo I peaked, only to have my hopes dashed by one dushbag who showed me that it only will take one uncooperative player to ruin the experience for everyone, especially on harder settings.

This game could have spelt the next step but pulled up short, the levels are great but beg for 4-5 different routes through each which the AI director can close off or open up as he sees fit. Imagine racing for what you think is the staircase up only to find it blocked with rubble this time? You have to backtrack find another way.  With this addition tool the game truly would have been a masterpiece.

As is it’s a 3 and will be in the bargain bin in Australia at least before Christmas.
