Finally a Good Zombie Game other than RE 0

Left 4 Dead is, in my opinion, the best zombie game so far.  People may say there is not enough content, but i can assure you that if you buy it, you will be playing it for a while, and once in a while you will always go back to it.  It's just that replayable.  There are 4 campaigns, but again, they are highly replayable.  The campaigns are fun to play alone, but is extremely fun to play with friends.  If you want a challenge, all you have to do is put this game on expert.  Beating the campaigns...

The Dead Roam the Net. 0

Zombies are easily in the top ten of popular culture icons that all geeks, nerds, and activists seem to never get enough of. Right up there with the likes of pirates and ninjas, zombies, and the zombie game, are usually a dime a dozen in the video game market, with some type of flesh eating monstrosity stalking you in droves as you avoid their presence through gunplay or running away. A tired but true formula, the guys over at Valve decided to take it and morph it into a fun, albeit limited co-...

First Impressions, mediocre - mildly enjoyable but not amazing. 0

Well - it's been long enough coming and here we have it - the long awaited 'The Sacrifice' DLC for Left 4 Dead. I played through it a few times last night on Campaign mode, enjoyed it - but wasn't blown off my feet.  Really - it feels like you've got Left 4 Dead 1 characters and game mechanics in Left 4 Dead 2 maps.  Everything's bright and sunny as you explore the Floriday Key's - you don't see any new infected, or L4D 2 infected though... There are some nice mechanics, like a bit where there'...

SHAKE DAT BEAR   I used to play a lot of FPS games. I grew up on id classics breaking my mind into PC gaming goodness. PC games were the shit cause of their adult subject matter and badass gameplay.  I was a PC gamer for life.  3dFX and all that Voodoo graphics shit was cool when I was in elementary and high school but once I went to college my broke ass stopped the PC gaming. This game is SICK!!!! 0

This game, like I said in the title, is super sick!   There is no wait period, no epilogue, no training map.  it just throws you into the action.  And apart from the needed break here and there, the action doesn't stop.  Normal difficulty doesn't seem so hard at first, but there will always be a situation that arises mid-way through a map, that will have you wondering if they somehow bumped up the skill level at some point without telling you.  When someone gets tackled by a hunter, and you have...

    Left 4 Dead Review 0

Left 4 Dead is a game for the XBOX360 console in which you will be assuming the role of 1 of 4 different characters. You and the other 3 characters are survivors of a zombie infestation. It is your job to navigate through levels (or scenes) to try to get rescued, and survive the onslaught of zombies. You'll be able to have a gun of your choice and a trusty pistol (unlimited ammo on the pistol). There are several campaigns that you'll be able to partake in.Graphically this game has a certain grit...

    Left 4 Dead -- Where You'll Find Me 0

most first person shooters are designed to transplant gamers into other worlds, times or places of imagination. picking up new weapons, you take on the role of one-man army leading other non-playable characters to checkpoint after checkpoint until you reach the ending that will culminate in another sequel.and then, there’s left 4 dead.you still have checkpoints, or safe houses, that break up the sections of each campaign giving you and your online buddies a quick breakdown of statistics as well ...

Great presentation but the gameplay...not so much. 0

So I have my fair share of playing games that has had zombies such as the Resident Evil series, Dead Rising ( bleh), etc. Although normally I wouldn't be so giddy if it wasn't for Valve developing it and I did have expectation for this game because of this. As a result, in the end what I see is a solid Zombie game with all the interesting twists that they put in the game, but it also lacked the elements of what made a first-person shooter game a terrific game.   Left 4 Dead's story is pretty...

    Mmmm, Smoker Dust 0

There is no better indicator of what kind of year 2008 was with releases of shooters that treaded new ground in platforming, role-playing, and the infected taking over the world one campaign at a time. In the latter’s case, it also pushed multiplayer into an interesting direction. Credit to Valve for not only making a technically impressive game, but for proving that a game could be built around multiplayer without having to be an MMO. The heavily discussed AI director does some things I like, a...

    Hello Zombie 0

Left 4 Dead Review Valve previously famous for their Half life franchise, has now once again hit the nail on the head with Left 4 Dead, a zombie first person shooter. These aren't your every day slow moving zombies, no, they are your fast paced 28 days later zombies, and will not go down without a fight. In the game there are for survivors, the first one is Louis. Louis is a African American office worker. Bill is a retired veteran from Nom. Fransic. And Zoe a horror film fanatic. You can play b...

    Absolutely awesome. 0

It’s tough to not associate Valve with quality at this point, so it’s no surprise to see that their latest, Left 4 Dead, is completely awesome. It successfully blends the cinematic and grandiose qualities of their single-player epics with the social and competitive chaos that’s associated with all great multi-player games. Even more, all of this is set in the midst of a zombie apocalypse and all the potential dread and intensity associated with this setting is completely and utterly exploited. I...

More maps and weapons could elevate this game 0

Left 4 Dead may not have any breakthroughs, but what it does have are all done right.  Choose from one of four characters who are survivors of what appears to be the beginning of a zombie outbreak.  There are only four maps to choose from as of the writing of this review, but they are all pretty much the same in general layout.  Basically you get a gun, and shoot zombies in the face until you can get rescued.  This may not sound like such a spectacular concept, but it is just so satisfying to sh...

Killing Zombies has Never Been so Great 0

Valve has once again mastered the art of multiplayer gaming when they released Left 4 dead for Xbox 360 and PC. Left 4 dead takes cooperative gameplay and combines it with good 'ol fashioned zombie blasting. You and your friends play any of the 4 survivors and must survive the 4 campaigns released thus far by valve. You and your friends also have the option to play against others in versus mode where 4 can play as the infected boss zombies or play the survivors. The genius behind Left 4 dead is ...

    Pure Online Multiplayer Fun 0

Left 4 Dead is from Valve, the huge PC developer that create the Half-Life Series, Counterstrike, Portal, and Team Fortress. Valve doesn't put out a whole lot of games, but the ones they do put out are always quality games, and Left 4 Dead is another. It is available for the PC, through Steam or retail, and the Xbox 360. Now, of course, since it's Valve, the PC version is far superior, that is if you have a gaming PC to play it on. Left 4 Dead is a game set in a zombie apocalypse. Unlike most ...

The title is wrong. Its not Left 4 Dead. Its Left 4 MOTHERFUCKING ITS BRILLIANT Dead. Thats how good it is. Zombies and games go together like butter and toast. Its fulfils our desires to shoot something without that person being a human. Left 4 Dead transports us to various modern day apocalypses based around a location. I've been playing Left 4 Dead for several months now and can easily say it is one of the best FPS games i have ever played, It is so well designed and melds so well that it creates a fantastic single and multiplayer experience.I am a big fan of stories in games and the great thing about Valve stories has not been the stories themselves but Valves unique way of presenting them and this is continued in Left 4 Dead with the saferooms in between levels littered with messages written on the walls but...

When I think FPS, I normally think 15-20 weapon types, at least half of them with an alternate firing mode, 15-20 minutes of mowing down the same enemy with a different hat, pants, or skin color over and over until you reach a room on the other side of the map with a guy in a wifebeater who can take 50-60 solid shots to the chest and head before he finally either dies or jumps in a chopper laughing and disappears until you fight him a second time in a later level, and then he has a rocket launch...

Now's your chance to play hero. 0

I know in my youth whenever I watched zombie horror movies I thought to myself 'I think I could handle myself if this happened to me.' It might only be a game, but Left 4 Dead is what you could essentially call a Zombie Apocalypse Simulator and one fantastic one at that. Left 4 Dead is the newest venture from Valve Software which puts players in the role of a survivor trying to escape from hordes of Zombies. The game allows you to play as one of four characters. You have Francis, the tough bike...

Valve is still king of the FPS genre. 1

Valve’s latest First Person Shooter Left 4 Dead takes place two weeks after the outbreak of a zombie virus. We are introduced to four survivors: Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey. We are not given any details to their back stories or the cause of the zombie infestation. Rather, this intense multiplayer experience focuses on co-operative online play, in which players can take the role of a survivor across four campaigns. They can battle enemy teams in Versus Mode, switching between the role of the In...

    Reloading! 0

Whenever Valve announces a game, they tell you everything beforehand, maybe leave one thing hidden for some other event and go silent. Absolute dead on silent. Pretty much the same thing happened with Left 4 Dead. They told what they needed to: AI Director, Co-op, Zombies and more Zombies. Then they announced Versus later on. Had some playable stations at events and thats it. Valve never hypes their own game up and suprisingly, whenever they release the game, it gets everyone excited because its...

Some pondering on Left 4 Dead. 0

At first glance one would not hesitate to throw a 5 star rating at Left 4 Dead. It's jsut so damn original and clever. The game focuses on the adventure of 4 survivers as they traverse through 4 scenarios, or "movies." Each movie has a differnt feel and setting and will generally last between 45 mins to an hour. The main selling point of Left 4 Dead is the co-op system. The way in which these 4 players must intereact with one another in order to achieve success is pivitol, especially on the high...

Left 4 Dead is a thrilling zombie nightmare. 0

To start off, I'll say that Left 4 Dead is one of the best games of the year, as seems to be typical of a game released by Valve, who have been on a roll for years now.  Although it is not as content-packed as last year's legendarily overstuffed Orange Box (nor does it have as much variety), few (if any) games take such a compelling premise and execute so well, and the content that is there is highly replayable.I'm going in here with the assumption that you've already read a lot about this, so I...

Valve's vision of survival horror is fully realized 0

Looking back, only a game or two that I can think of have actually attempted to take on the zombie apocalypse in online form, throwing players–competitively or cooperatively–into a world decimated by plague and letting them decide the final outcome that would ultimately tell the fate of their world. Games such as Resident Evil Outbreak its just-as-mediocre sequel have tried, but only Left 4 Dead has succeeded. Left 4 Dead feels like every other Source Engine shooter you can think of, hardly diff...

Ever since the original Half-life came out for the PC over a decade ago, Valve, the developer behind the masterpiece, has continued to put out truly imaginative and fantastical games with such detailed and creative plot lines that anyone has ever seen in any shooter.  With this zombie/first person shooter, Valve is taking a new direction with this franchise.  Instead of making it about a single main character that is backed up with an epic story, Valve has switched gears in that this...

L4D is a hard game, no doubt about it. In this game only cooperation with your teammates will keep you alive in the gruesome zombie apocalypse. If you try to be a lone wolf you'll most likely get killed by a hunter or smoker (some of the special infected). With L4D, Valve has trimmed the fat and only left the meaty awesomeness. There are only a few weapons to chose from and a few levels to mess around on, but it all feels incredibly sharp and polished. Similarly, the graphics perform well and are...

Left 4 Dead really captures what it would be like in a zombie apocolypse. Unlike Resident Evil's slow and solitary zombies Left 4 Dead gives the new "28 Days Later" type of zombies. These zombies are quick and if you don't defend yourself you can easily get swarmed. Playing with four random people also captures the feel of being in a group of four random survivors. However many times itdepends on the people you play with. People who refuse to use mics or play as a team can severally hinder your ...

Left 4 Dead. It was insane how hyped up I was for this game. It has been in development for three or four years now, and I was on board from the very beginning. The concept is so basic, yet Valve again does an incredible job of making a simple concept something extraordinary, but the thing is, there just isn't enough. It's simple, get from point A to point B without dieing. Oh yeah, you might have to kill one or two HUNDRED zombies to get there. These aren't your Resident Evil, slow, shuffling, d...

    The Ultimate Co-op experience. 0

I have always been a big fan of co-op games and zombie games, Left 4 Dead is the epitome of both genres. The game continually impresses from it's gloomy, creepy atmosphere. Atmosperic sound, unnerving lighting and terrifyingly smooth animation of your enemies. While the only knock against this game is the lack of many campaigns, the procedural AI director keeps things fresh by making the experience original everytime you play.An instant classic that should not be missed, or played without friends....

Left 4 Dead may look like a simple first person shooter at first, but underneath it may have reinvented the way we play games. Much like Valve did with last year's highly acclaimed Portal, Left 4 Dead also is as much of a refinement to its genre as well as an innovation. It seamlessly integrates single player and multiplayer into one singular mode of play, giving you a co-op experience unlike anything else found this year.Lets get to the basics, Left 4 Dead, as the number "4" in the title implie...

A slight lack of content and a few connection issues are the only things holding back one of the most enjoyable shooting experiences I've had in years. The normal gameplay isn't particularly deep; there are only a few weapons and a few types of enemies. They're not particularly smart. There's only four "movies" to play, none lasting even two hours on normal difficulty. But none of that matters. overall I love this game, the emphasis on teamwork is refreshing.  the A.I. is amazing and the "director" keeps repeat playability high. the four difficulty levels are almost perfect, easy for when you are just messing around up to expert where you better be on your game. online play is challenging, can be a real blast with friends, but it's hit or miss when playing with strangers, we all know how XBL can be at times. my only complaints are in design. When I heard it only pertained to spawning zombies, my enthusiasm dropped a bar, when I played the demo I peaked, only to have my hopes dashed by one dushbag who showed me that it only will take one uncooperative player to ruin the experience for everyone, especially on harder settings. Left 4 Dead is an online cooperative first-person shooter that pits four survivors against hordes of swarming zombies. The object of the game is to defend each other as you make your way through a campaign until you reach a rescue vehicle.
