Left Behind Games, Inc., was formed for the sole purpose of creating games based on the Left Behind book series. The developers chose to convert the series about the Apocalypse into the Real-Time Strategy format in an attempt to reach younger audiences. Unfortunately, a campaign by various groups against Left Behind Games led to calls for boycotts of the game based on various accuations against its content, with citations against its perceived violence and religious intolerance being the most prevalent. However, these perceptions were not shared among all critics and were even refuted by some of them as well as by some game reviewers. Still, the game ended up recieving some of the lowest metacritic averages seen.
The company had also developed a line of learning games for young children based off of Bible stories.
