    A genuinely solid combat system can't make up for truly awful dialogue and characters. 1

    I had been looking forward to Legaia - I had been going back through PS1 games I missed back in the day to see what games managed to stand the test of time, and it had been recommended to me by several people as an overlooked gem. First, the good stuff.The combat system *is* quite good - it manages that excellent JRPG balancing act of keeping you engaged minute to minute during combat without being fiddly or tiresome, the "guard to charge" mechanic is inspired, and I actually love how magic work...

    Legend of Legaia is a run of the mills RPG with a slightly unique battle system. Other than that battle system (which is different, but it still BORED me), the rest of the game is linear and by the books. Vahn is a silent protagonist, with only 2 other people in your party makes for weak dialog at times. At times you get to pick or choose what Vahn says, but compared to Link he is a very lackluster character. I didn't hate the plot, I kind of enjoyed it. The graphics were decent, but this game o...

    The Pinnacle of RPGs...a Legendary Masterpiece! 0

       In the year 1999, an extraordinary game entitled 'Legend of Legaia' was released in the United States. I am shocked and perhaps a bit sad in knowing that this superb game did not get the widespread recognition that it deserved. Being released just a few months before Final Fantasy VIII, it seems that the hype for that game caused Legaia to be overshadowed. However, Legaia is by far the better game and an RPG experience that one should not miss out on.    The story goes like this…God created ...
