Unlock sidequests and save the world in Square's follow up to Secret of Mana.

Legend of Mana is an entry in Squares enormisly popular Seiken Densetsu series (known as the Mana series in the US) and is the followup to the cult Super NES classic Secret of Mana. However rather than making a relatively safe follow up, Square completely flipped the script on the sereis and created a rather contraversial entry in the series. The game is centered around a world whose land has been destroyed, and thus it is up to the player to restore it, they do this by finding items that allow them to unlock different land areas. Once the player has unlocked a land mass they can place it whereever they please, and this unlock various side quests depending on the location where it is placed. The game has been criticized by some for not having a very deep story, as this system means that the game is essentially just a series of sidequest with little over arching story.
