Released for PC in 1997, LEGO Island is the first video game based on LEGO bricks. It features the signature aesthetic of LEGO pieces and characters, and centers around sandbox-style exploration of a vibrant island.

Story

Jet ski racing.

The game features a light story that can be completed in as few as twenty minutes. The plot focuses on Pepper Roni, the town's local skater punk, who delivers an extremely spicy pizza to criminal mastermind The Brickster in jail.

The Brickster manages to use Pepper's pizza to escape by breathing fire on the cell bars and melting them. As The Brickster wreaks havoc on LEGO Island, Pepper and his fellow citizens take up the fight against him. They feed pizzas to The Brickster to slow him down and donuts to the police to speed them up.

Despite the citizens' efforts, The Brickster manages to hijack almost every movable object on LEGO Island when he steals the Power Brick that sits atop the information tower. This brick is the piece-keeper of LEGO Island, helping to keep it stable, but The Brickster uses it to deconstruct objects and people. Pepper must stop the Brickster before it is too late.

Gameplay

LEGO Island follows the conventions of a sandbox-style game, where the player has freedom to complete objectives in any order. These objectives include car racing, vehicle building, jet ski racing, pizza delivery, and various other side quests. Depending on which character the player chooses when the game is launched, different side quests may appear altogether.
