LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 Announced (Plus, it's Coming to NGP)

You'll look awfully shiny on NGP's screen, Harry.

Right, right--we all know that LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is a no brainer. Warner Bros. and Traveller's Tales telegraphed this when the last game was called LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4.

The wizarding world of LEGO was one of the weaker effects from Traveller's Tales, albeit far better than either iteration of LEGO Indiana Jones. Considering the series was founded with a source of magic (the Force), you'd think "real" magic would have transitioned nicely, but it seemed to make the environments overcomplicated. It's hard to enjoy interacting with what's around you when you don't know what to interact with in the first place.

Notably, the press release also promises a NGP version of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7. The press release doesn't make any mention of that as a codename, either. Much of Sony's PSP successor remains a secret, but it's expected the company's E3 press conference will solve many of our questions.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 arrives sometime this holiday season.

Let me know when there is a Lego Simpsons game. Then we'll talk.

Three Lego Puzzle/Adventure games in one year? This is a record for the series no doubt. Now give me my Terminator Legos!

so close...

The first Potter game is clearly the best Lego game so far.... less reliance on combat and tons of insane thinsg to do.

I'm sure this one will be awesome too.

Hope it'll look as good as the LEGO Pirates game.

literally there Dev kit must be made out of Lego blocks at this point, turn the handle it shits a game out.

Granted, the world they are based on and Lego-ifying of the cutscenes is really what makes a Lego game, but I quite enjoyed the first Lego Harry Potter as a relaxing girlfriend-friendly game.

I found Harry Potter to be the best Lego game so far. My only one gripe with the game was the hub world was so big you could get lost easily.

Less glitchy than the first I hope.  Just this evening played through a second time and the 100% chievo didn't pop.  Argh!!

I'm gonna wait for the inevitable years 1-7 complete package.

I really liked the last LEGO Harry Potter game with its emphasis on exploration and puzzles over combat. Sure it was a bit janky and the puzzles could be a bit obtuse but I had a ton of fun.

I'm honestly getting burned out on LEGO games, but God damn I can't pass this up!

TT does need to bring some change to the table with this one, though. A lot of the features in the first game *CoughspellwheelCough*were fine and dandy but they just didn't work well enough. And please, for the love of Dumbledore, make sure to thoroughly test the games this time! I've always had glitches in my LEGO games and it's very tiresome.

I want to see the zany Lego take on the death of Dumbledore.
Next Lego game needs to be edgier maybe base it off of the last movie trilogy I watched.  The Girl Who Played With Legos.

The Lego games have been getting better and better. Really nice games with a lot to do. I can't say I'll be buying them though

Not going to happen, Lego dropped the license after how violent the Dark Knight was and I believe one of their competitors now uses it.  They do have a partnership with Disney though, so sets and games based on Marvel guys are very likely to be next.

Yes, the first one was so fun, probably the best Lego game in my opinion. I can't wait.

Why not at this point.

Haha, seriously tho. There's something about the Lego franchise. No matter how much they milk it and how slowly they innovate it you just can't really get mad at it.

It's like when Rockstar made GTA3 then everyone started making clones, except this time it's one company making the original AND all the clones - and you can't talk much shit about them cause they're just some videogame-ass videogames doin' what they do. Classic video game tropes piled high and not trying to be anything more.

I love em, but at this rate I probably won't get around to Harry Potter 5-7 until late 2012 and by then I'll be backlogged like, six or seven deep.

...still can't decide whether to go SW3 or PotC next.

I enjoyed the first one, so this can only be a good thing.

I guess these games do something for someone so more power to them. As far as movie licence games go, this seems to be the best angle. Because you can follow the same story, and yet not. Play with preconceptions and such.

#27 Posted by ZarakixKenpachi (379 posts) - 2 years, 4 days ago

They never seem to mess up the Lego games, so I guess I'll be getting this as someone's present this year.

#28 Posted by Hizang (8536 posts) - 2 years, 4 days ago

I still need to get the first Lego Harry Potter, man have I fallen behind with games!

Expecto Patronum!

Oh goody, opinions stated as facts in a news story.  Lego HP was not one of the weaker ones, it was awesome.

That's not what NGP stands for- don't be stupid.

...it's Neo Geo Pocket.

I wasn't a huge fan of year 1-4, but this might be interesting enough to check out.
