@Take_Opal: While what you say is mostly true, you are completely missing the difference between a 10/10 and a 5/5.

With a 5 point review scale, there is almost no room for comparing separate games. The reviewer decided how good a game is based on its own qualities. Game A is better then Game B, both get a 5/5

Now lets consider a 10 point review scale. With this, a reviewer will decide the score based on previous games he has played. Game A is better then Game B, A gets 10 and B gets 9.

A 5/5 insinuates that a game is good and worth checking out.

A 10/10 insinuates that a game is one of the best games currently available and should 100% be owned by anyone who takes games seriously.

Jesus-fucking-Christ, y'all are over analyzing the shit out of a simple typo.

ALSO, GIANT BOMB IS TWO WORDS!

I want this game so badly. The only problem is that it's 99NOK(Norwegian)~18 USD on PSN.

Is it really worth that much, or should I wait for the PC version?(which will be much cheaper)

I just bought the PS3 version and it's good, but no, it's not worth what they're charging. If you've waited this long and you're still on the fence, just wait for the PC version to be cheap.

@HatKing: I couldn't care less about the typo, I was just trying to explain that there is a difference between 5/5 and 10/10 because some people don't seem to understand that.

It's not as simple as a math equation is all I was trying to say =p

Great game. Perfect score? Nah I don't think it is worth that.

Based solely on how the ending was just a cop out.

Gameplay was fun though, i enjoyed the funny ways things/player died.

Regarding the topic of this discussion, it looks like someone had...

...a total eclipse.

It was 5/5 stars right? I'm no math whiz, but 10/10 is an equivalent fraction so no crime here, haha

The 5 star scale isn't meant to be equivalent.

This is a incredibly stupid post.

wow

a 5/5 star rating means "this is good, you should at the very least try it"

a 10/10 rating generally means "this is amazing, everyone will love it"

He has a very valid point, so why is it "incredibly stupid?"

Does that mean the next grand theft auto game will get a 15/15?

No, whatever the highest possible score is in a rating means the highest possible praise unless you do some stupid shit like 6/5. 5/5 means whatever the reviewer means but it would mean just the same as 10/10

Ugh, just go to the part on the site where it explains the review scores man, I'm not making it up. There's a reason 3 stars doesn't necessarily equal a 6/10, or a 2 star rating isn't a 3/10 or whatever. It's not numerical, it's supposed to convey a general feeling. Someone else can copy and paste it if they want, but the explanations are on the site.

The first 1/4 is fun.  I loved the spiders, the dangerous natives, the organic environments.  As soon as you enter Super Industrial Saw Kingdom, however, the game takes a nosedive in terms of fun.  I guess 90 degree angles and lame flip-the-switch puzzles were just easier to pull off.

Better than a rusty trombone… ( google it ( don't ) )

On a scale of 1 to pretentious this game gets a 9.

I was not a huge fan of this game, I thought it was a 4 out of 5 at best.

kind of a side note... are there a lot of games that cite GiantBomb as a review source? i feel like i don't see it very often since there are much bigger outlets that the average person can say "oh gameinformer said this", or something of that sort.
