The line gun offers a full meters length energy beam that is extremely powerful to allow sheering through its targets with ease.
As a secondary feature the Line Gun offers a unique timed mine function where the user can fire powerful timed mines causing significant damage to the targeted area. No in-universe explanation has ever been given for why this mining tool fires explosive mines; the generally accepted answer is "because it's a videogame".
