A length of exceptionally sharp metal with a handle, used for centuries as the go-to killing device for the human race. It's dead simple: you stick the pointy end in the thing you want to die. Or you could always slash them with the equally sharp sides. That works too.
A tree is a perennial woody plant. Trees are often used in games as a natural wall, providing a barrier as well as cover. Many games also use them to make their environments looks more natural and attractive.
A ball of hot flickering fire. Usually thrown from the hero's hand into the squealing face of the enemy.

A goatee is a patch of hair on the chin, sometimes includes a mustache. Major characters who sport goatees include Gordan Freeman (Half-life), Kratos (God of War) and Marcus Fenix (Gears of War).
Sideburns are a form of hair grown over the temples and down towards the jaw. Not to be confused with "mutton chops", which is a kind of beard grown on the cheeks. Sideburns are extremely common in games that include character customization.
Beards are visible facial follicle growth, commonly associated with adult male homo sapiens. In video games, beards are commonly found in character customization systems (i.e. Rock Band) or when pirates are involved (i.e. the Monkey Island series).
Link uses one. You do it in Animal Crossing. Lakitu uses it in most Mario installments like Mario Kart and Super Mario 64. Loads of games use fishing rods! Reel in that carp!
A potion is any sort of liquid, usually brewed by an alchemist, that replenishes the health, mana, or energy of the player, or causes damage to an enemy. Potions are extremely common in role-playing games.
A valuable item that is highly sought after, often used as a reward or incentive to complete objectives. Also used as a currency in many role-playing games.
