It's too easy to cheat around Lips' poor vocal- and pitch-detecting technology, but if you're willing to look past that, Lips is a satisfying home karaoke game.

"Lips" is a Karaoke game similar to the SingStar franchise. "Lips" comes bundled with two motion-sensing, LED-lighted microphones for $69.99 US. In addition to the 40 songs that come on the disc, you will be able to plug in your MP3 player and sing along to your own music.
Lips is the brand new singing game from Microsoft. It is bundled with wireless motion-sensitive microphones with built in LED lights which change according to the song being played. Lips also enables you to sing from your own music collection from your Zune or iPod.On the surface, Lips looks like it is a standard karaoke game, which tracks your singing pitch and rhythm, and seems to follow in Sony’s SingStar style. Microsoft and developer iNiS (best known for the Ouendan series on Nintendo DS) plan to use master recordings for all of the about 40 songs they expect to offer in the game out of the box. Also, most of the songs will be backed by the performer’s original music video.
Downloadable tracks also are available to download and most include the original video. The current downloadable list of tracks is below.
The downlodable Tracks are 180 or 160 a Track and track-packs of 3 tracks are 440 so if you want all three you can win 100MSP with that.
If you had pre-ordered Lips you were able to receive a code to download a new song every week for two months free of charge from the Zune Marketplace. These songs were selected by the Zune team.
There are plans to make the Lips' wireless microphone compatible with Rock Band 2 in the future. Microsoft and MTV Games are working together to ensure that consumers will be able to have this cross compatibility. It is unknown if the motion sensitive feature in the Lips' microphone will be supported in Rock Band 2.
