Lips disappoints on many levels, even for the casual gamer.
Recently I purchased the game for my wife and was intrigued to see how Microsoft would compete with the well established Singstar. The hardware is impressive; It's wireless, heavy duty feeling, and look well designed.
Immediately the presentation and artwork fails to be compelling, with a sort of "DDR" feeling menu and cheezy music. The game choices are few, and there isn't a "career mode" or any real solo game outline. While you do "rank up", there's no real structure or format to the process. Simple singing and scoring is done well, and the presentation during songs is good.
My biggest complaint is that the game only comes with 40 songs. Most music rhythm games ship with 70-85 songs, providing players plenty of gameplay on the disc. The fact that Lips immediately began releasing DLC reinforces the fact that this title was given little attention during development and the focus is on $. Not that a game shouldn't make money, but Lips is a shameful example of a developer trying to leverage quantity over quality.
Too bad. Lips could've been a great opportunity for Microsoft to capture more casual gamers. Instead it disappoints.

I want to know where he's getting karaoke games with 85 songs in them cause I want one of them! just for the record the average for Sing star is about 30.
