Andrew Ryan is the founder of Rapture, the undersea Utopia that is the setting for BioShock. His name is a partial anagram of Ayn Rand, author of the novel Atlas Shrugged, which served as the main inspiration for Ryan's philosophies and aspects of BioShock's story.
The cunning, intelligent, and ruthless arch-enemy of Andrew Ryan, and the leader of the opposition in the power struggle which led to Rapture's collapse.
Dr. Brigid Tenenbaum is a German genetic scientist who helped originally develop ADAM. She is one of the main characters that you come in contact with in Bioshock.
Daughter of Sofia Lamb, Eleanor plays a role in BioShock 2. As prototype Big Daddy Subject Delta, the player's goal is to locate Eleanor.
Jack is the silent player character in BioShock. After surviving a plane crash in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, he stumbles upon the underwater metropolis of Rapture.

This prototype Big Daddy is the protagonist of BioShock 2. Being rejected as the model for the new line of Big Daddies, he was put into hibernation and hidden well away from the citizens of Rapture. Now, ten years after the first game, he is awakened for a mysterious purpose.
Sullivan was Andrew Ryan's right hand man and security chief of Rapture. He did Ryan's dirty work, such as murdering Anna Culpepper.
Dr. Yi Suchong was a leading medical researcher in Rapture studying ADAM and its uses to create plasmids and alter brain function.
