who still plans on getting lost planet 2? i know i do, i loved the first, and the quick look only made me want it more. who's in the same boat?

#2 Posted by RandomInternetUser (6789 posts) -

I liked the first, but not enough to throw down 60 dollars when there's a lot of other games I want right now.  I might get it when it's 20 or something.  Nothing to do with reviews though.

#3 Posted by kishan6 (1914 posts) -

shouldnt this be onthe lost planet 2 boards????

anyways no i will not purchase this game after watching the quick look
it does not even look remotely fun

#4 Posted by Brendan (7817 posts) -

I already played one, so I'm good.
#5 Posted by ArcLyte (886 posts) -
@kishan6:  you're right, it should be on the lost planet 2 board. i'm drunk.
#6 Posted by Weltal (2274 posts) -

I'll wait on a price drop, I think it looks neat enough but the multiplayer demo basically made sure that I have zero interest in the competitive stuff.

#7 Posted by CowboyBebopper (170 posts) -

I'll wait for it to drop to 20 bucks in a year. The fact that my avatar can have a Servbot head is intriguing though...

#8 Posted by JJOR64 (19001 posts) -

I will get the game at a later date.  There are other games I want to get right now.

#9 Posted by tunaburn (1891 posts) -

i have never played the first one. i was very interested in this game and then.... i played the multplayer demo. holy hell did that make sure ill never spend any cash on any lost planet game. it felt horrible.

#10 Posted by Rebirth1337 (795 posts) -

Hated the first so no even if it got 10's.

#11 Posted by Shirogane (3578 posts) -

Had little to no interest, but all these negative reviews actually make me want to try it. Ironically enough.

Same here.  I will likely pick up the first for about $15, probably used and then I will wait for a similar price for 2 - I am no hurry.

Yeah, i've been meaning to get the first as well, it's pretty cheap. Maybe after i get bored of 3D Dot Game Heroes, which i should be getting next week.
#14 Posted by DukesT3 (1917 posts) -

30 is the most i'll pay for it. Red Dead will probably take up most of my time as will either split/second or blur, whichever one i pick up first then its probably onto NCAA 11.

#15 Posted by Raven10 (1804 posts) -

I didn't want it as soon as I played the demo. Even before then the co-op focus turned me off. I don't know anyone else who likes Lost Planet and playing co-op online with strangers just isn't how I want to enjoy a campaign. After the reviews I am even more certain I don't want it. The controls don't bother me that much. They were the same in the first game which I really liked, but the whole limited lives, respawn points in SP, and terrible AI has made me not want this game at all.

I am going to be having too much fun playing Monster Hunter Tri for a while myself.  I don't know if there is much difference between the regular and Colonies edition (enough for me to care), so I will go with either.
#17 Posted by The_Laughing_Man (13629 posts) -

I will. Just waiting for the price to drop a few bucks.

As far as i know, the differences are multiplayer modes? Somebody else may be able to clarify though.

On the note of Lost Planet 2, EBgames in Australia are selling the limited editions for the same price as they're selling standards.

I was expecting that you can play as your own customized character in campaign, and I was expecting a strong storyline.
Thank God we have Quick Look on Giantbomb. They just kept me away from wasting $30 (yea, it's chaper on PC in Hong Kong).

If you liked the first then you will like this
#21 Posted by The_A_Drain (3910 posts) -

I loved the first one, but if they havn't improved the clunky controls that won't help my decision. But working with 3 fake AI with fake gamertags? Fuck that shit. No thank you. I will pick it up down the line when it's at clearance price.

#22 Posted by unclejohnny79 (685 posts) -

looks like a solid rental somewhere down the line.

@oldschool: @Shirogane:  Just to clarify, the only major difference between the Regular and Colonies edition, as far as I can tell, is additional multiplayer stuff. If you have no intention of playing it online the single-player experience is unchanged (360 version is also slightly better than PS3).  I'm playing the first one right now after demoing it and I'm quite enjoying it so far even if the storyline isn't great. The world that they've created is unique and feels far more fullblooded as science-fiction, ie. genuinely alien and strange, than other games that pretend to that title. LP is also far more deliberate in its movement and pacing; mechanically its strange and somewhat challenging but it's distinctive.
It really depends on how much you like third-person shooters generally though; it's definitely bargain-bin if it's not a genre you're into.

It looks pretty cool but I don't have a ton of money and there are games I'd rather have instead.

Some day

#27 Posted by DaBuddaDa (290 posts) -

My friends and I have decided to all pick this up and play together once we can find it for $30 or less. So, probably in 4 or 5 months from now.

#28 Posted by schizogony (975 posts) -

I'll get it one day when it's way cheaper.

#29 Posted by DonChipotle (2768 posts) -

The first one was my first 360 game (along with Gears of War) and I loved the shit out of it. I picked Lost Planet 2 up today and can't wait to get back into the multiplayer.

#30 Posted by sopranosfan (1935 posts) -

I didn't like the first so I probably won't get this one at any price.  I had a major problem with the huge explosions the mechs could see through and I couldn't it led to a lot of what I felt were cheap deaths that had little to do with my skill and the unfair advantage the AI had by seeing through the smoke.

#31 Posted by TheFreeMan (2712 posts) -

I'm gonna rent it. I picked up the first LP: Colonies for a deal and I ended up loving it. $60 is too much for just about every game, in my opinion, so unless I'm absolutely, positively sure I'm going to end up loving it a lot, I rent games.

#32 Posted by Fury283 (3 posts) -

I'm loving this game, just got to have a specific taste for that stuff. :)

#33 Posted by shadows_kill (3165 posts) -

i was  really intrested in the first one and never got it.. tried the demo and it took FOREVER to ever get into a match.. so i just never got it.. i didnt really like the co-op demo last year but i got really into the competitive one but im on the edge of to get or not to get..

#34 Posted by natetodamax (19208 posts) -

Didn't really like the first one, so there really isn't a chance that I'll be getting LP2.

#35 Posted by Yummylee (21750 posts) -

I'll buy me a used copy, someday down the line. Another fun time split-screening with my lil brother.

#36 Posted by Three0neFive (2294 posts) -

I don't care about reviews, negative or otherwise.

That said, the demo ran fucking terribly (PS3 version), so I'm not coming within 100 feet of this game.

#37 Posted by bhhawks78 (1206 posts) -

I rented it and sent it back to gamefly same day, I would have given it an even lower review than brad.

#38 Posted by Camurai (259 posts) -

Didn't like the first one, but felt it had a lot of potential, which is why I was excited for this one.
But almost everything I've seen/played of it has let me down so I probably won't be playing it.
All the reviews I've read have said negative things about all the features I was hoping would be improved.

#39 Posted by bitcloud (646 posts) -

The first game is a lot better then the second one.

#40 Posted by RobotHamster (4172 posts) -

Even if the reviews were good I probably still wouldn't get it until its drops a lot, and by then I would have lost intrest.  I just don't want to spend the $60, and I considering to spend it on Red Dead.

@JasonDaPsycho:
You can use your own character after you complete it once

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME OR YOU WILL BE LIKE ME

@_@ lack of sleep... i spent 8hrs sleeping everyday till i bought and start playing LP2 now i only sleep 5-6hrs a day @_@

#43 Posted by McBradders (150 posts) -

I don't get the hate. I can understand it if you went in thinking it was a single player game, but they've never really marketed as such. As a purely co-op game it's a triumph. Objectives that require a team instead of kill corridors with more than 1 person.

CapGod indeed.

My two cents regarding Lost Planet 2.

#45 Posted by HolyCrapItsAdam (448 posts) -

I might pick it up used when it drops in price but even though I enjoyed the first and enjoyed the demo, for some reason I am just not that excited about the full game

#46 Posted by ryanwho (12082 posts) -

Decided to watch paint dry instead.

#47 Posted by Equal_Opportunity_Destroyer497 (559 posts) -

I didn't really like the first one, so I've had no real interest in this one since it was announced. If it had reviewed better I probably would have given it a shot.

#48 Posted by Jazz (2281 posts) -

I'm gonna get it because of all the negative reviews once it goes down in price.
I'm a sucker for good/bad games.

#49 Posted by phantomzxro (1577 posts) -

sadly not me i really liked the first game but i liked the single player story of it. yeah it was not the best but at the time it was a very pretty game and it was fun exporing the icey world. I'm not a big fan of the co-op overriding the single player part of the game. This game does this like no other before so i will have to pass on that but i'm sure if you liked the muiti player in the first you will love this game.
#50 Posted by AzureDemon (66 posts) -

Honestly, dont be mislead by the bad reviews. They are complaining about stuff that is mindbogglingly stupid.

A) They complain about monsters being "cheap" and killing em quickly. Of course you are gonna get killed in 2 seconds if you stand still shooting the monster in the face.

B) Bad controls, I have yet to figure out what the bad controls are.... just because the game plays differently doesnt mean the controls are bad.

C) Checkpoint system, you died? Well bad luck! What did you expect?

D) And this is probably THE most single stupid point. The anchor, they complain that they cant continuously anchor in mid air, you know what would happen if you could? They would complain that you can anchor in mid air making the game really easy.

They honestly tried too hard to find bad things about the game and they picked the most stupid things. The people that complain about this game have honestly never played a game that's  hard or that requires more skill than point+shoot.
