Pope got his start with game development by making Quake Mods in college. Among the mods he made was one based on the 1997 film Anaconda that was legally authorized by Sony Pictures.
He joined Naughty Dog, Inc. in 2007 where he worked on GUI tools for the first two Uncharted games. He left the company in 2010 to pursue developing small scale, experimental games.
Pope released Papers, Please on August 8th, 2013 to critical acclaim and won the award for "Strategy & Simulation" from the British Academy Video Game Award.
After 5 years of development, he released Return of the Obra Dinn on October 18th, 2018.
