Through his travels with the rebelion spanning several years, Luke is pivitol in destroying the mighty Death Star battlestation and eventually liberating the galaxy from the oppressive grip of the Empire. Most important, Luke learns that Darth Vader, the twisted cyborg, sith lord is actually his father, Anakin Skywalker. Upon learning this, Luke has his most important struggle of all, Kill his own father or join the warped reality of the "dark side" of the force. Ultimately, after an epic lightsaber battle, Luke is able to help his father see the errors of his way, convert Anakin to his former self and destroy the leader of the Empire, the dreaded Emperor Palpatine. Luke shares one small moment with his father before, from injuries sustained from battle, Anakin dies.
Luke is left as the last galactic Jedi Knight and countless stories are concieved of his ultimate "repopulation" of the Jedi order along with his sister, Princess Leia Organa. Luke Skywalker stands as one of the most heroic characters in the Star Wars Universe.
The son of Anakin and Padme, Luke Skywalker is thrust into the Rebel uprising by "Ben" Kenobi and becomes one of the last Jedi Knights after his training with Yoda. Luke is the main protagonist in the Original Star Wars trilogy.
