This is yet another remake of the light hearted Lunar series. It received a fresh visual update ingame, adicional content and revamped soundtrack.

STORYLINE: You guide the young boy Alex on his adventure to become a DragonMaster – a great warrior who protects the goddess Althena, the game's deity. You also have great companions, such as his childhood friend Luna; the “total money make over” friend Ramus, and a few more whom you will encounter throuhought the game and will join you on your quest. A quest, which as you will probably guess, will become more than just about becoming a DragonMaster, becomes a quest in saving the world and what he most cares about (do I need to say? ). A new addition to the game's narrative is a new prologue at the beginning of the game in which you play the major event of the previous DragonMaster and his group, which was a neat feature. However, I expected more, something like a crazy difficult extra dungeon or something along these lines. Still, a nice addition nonetheless.

GAMEPLAY: Being a remake of a remake, there weren't a lot of things to improve upon this aspect of the game. The battles are still turn-based, and the enemies still show up on the screen which will give you a sense of “being able to avoid them” (and a sense you will notice to be just a sense, as it is almost impossible to escape from many enemies on the screen be it because of narrow passage ways or because you have to wait a few seconds to recognize their moving patterns). I'd say they also seem easier than before; you level up and you recover your HP and MP. MP recovering items being expensive and hard to come by, this adds a level of strategy in which you may want to level up right before a boss and conserve your MP.

GRAPHICS AND SOUND: The graphics and the soundtrack have been completely revamped obviously, and overall it became a great product. Personally, I prefered the original lyrics and soundtrack, but I can't deny they did a good job with the new version. The little sprites from the PSOne are gone and now we have a bigger and better world scenery wise. We still have amazing anime cut scenes that appear every now and then throuhought the gameplay to help diverse the narrative. These are now new voice actors, but to be completely honest, most of them sound very alike the PSOne version that I remember, which is great.

The Lunar series has always been a very fun story and game to play, and this new iteration does justice to all its previous... remakes. Which brings me to the point – did we really need another remake? As I mentioned, the new version is great, but I'd honestly prefer a new game in the series and have the PSOne version downloadable on the PSN. At any rate, if you never played this game before and you are into jrpgs, this one is a must play and great addition to any rpg library!
