I was excited at the prospect of MadWorld because it showed the hope for a more diverse line up of games for the Wii. I have not been disappointed. I am only a few hours in, but MadWorld has been entertaining in the same way that God of War was entertaining . . . o.k. maybe a bit less. The fighting seems much less directed than in GoW. You have more freedom with your opponents and their demise by being able to drag them to a near-by structure to impale them with. But the depth of the quick time events is much less than those found in God of War.
The addition of waggle controls to perform some (but not all) of the moves doesn't feel exceptionally forced. I enjoyed slicing people horizontally or vertically and thumping people into a spiked wall with my remote. There were times that I would accidentally perform a move that I didn't intend to, but that was rare and seldom a horrible loss. One thing that I wish MadWorld had in it was the ability to upgrade moves or weapons (a la God of War). The move-set you have grows slightly as you pick up new weapons, but the additions are never permanent. The structure of the game is multiple levels with a boss at the end of each one. The levels are relatively short, and have an huge emphasis on acquiring points with flashy kills. You can go back and play any level at any time to improve you high score.
All in all a fun game that is worth the money I played. It isn't amazing or doesn't do much original (outside of the art direction), but it is a welcome break from shooting things from a 1st or 3rd person perspective.
