Am I the only one really looking forward to this game? I LOVED the first on the PS2 and can't wait for this. I personally think this could be my favourite game of 2010.

Play as Vito Scaletta and rise up through the ranks of the criminal underworld of Empire Bay in Mafia II, the sequel to the 2002 sandbox-style hit.
Just me?
but i could see how it was fucking phenomenal back in 2002
either way, Mafia 2 wont be as revolutionary as the first game and wont have the same impact, because open world games have been getting released in fucktons.
The only thing that will make Mafia 2 stand out, is if it shits all over IV and pulls it off better. As much as i fucking WORSHIP GTA games, i hope Mafia 2 does just that :)
The pc version looks good, with it's physX, however i'll be waiting on more reviews. Right now I am sort of interested in the game and if it's good, i'll buy it. If the reviews are low, well i'll wait a bit until it's cheaper.
haha yeah I hate playing old games for the first time because we are so used to amazing graphics it gives us a bad impression. But, I remember when it was announced ( back when I bought game magazines xD ) things like "Police will stop you if caught speeding and issue speeding tickets" just blew my mind. Definently one of my favourite games on PS2.
" things like "Police will stop you if caught speeding and issue speeding tickets" just blew my mind."gotta love those good old moments :) i remember jizzing when i read that you could actually swim in the upcoming San Andreas
Mafia is one of my favourite games of all time. Brilliant story and storytelling, great characters, good mission variety and possibly the best game ending ever. I appreciated that they used an open-world setting without treating it like a space to just fuck around in.
The decicing factor for Mafia 2 will be whether they manage to keep that deliberate pace and mission variety. If they make the mistake of having most/every mission just being you hiding behind cover and taking out 100 other guys, then it'll just end up feeling like any other third person shooter. That'll probably make it review better, but it'll be a less interesting game.
edit: Also, kick-ass new trailer for Mafia 2:
Its probably gonna be my GOTY tbh. It looks amazing, and I love the premise. I was getting sick of the lousy godfather games.
@PATERSON: If you enjoyed the PS2 version may I suggest you buy the PC version. I owned both the PC and the PS2 version, but the console port doesn't do the game justice.
Played the first game and loved that. There's such a different mood to the storytelling and world that I personally like better than what GTA is about. I played Mafia II on the 360 back at PAX East and loved it. I'm a little conflicted about what platform. Should I stay true to the first game and get it on PC? Go with the exclusive DLC on the PS3? Or ZOMG ACHIEVEMENTS on the 360?
im looking forward to it. i maybe waiting on a review to see if they liked the story.. and how the cars handle otherwise im sold..
I originally had some doubts, but I think this will turn out just fine. Now the 24th seems so far away...
