Japan is an island country located in Eastern Asia and the Northwestern Pacific Ocean. In the video game industry, Japan has for a long time been one of the most important territories for the development and sale of video games.
Where evil is created, or at least where scientific experiments are conducted. Test tubes filled with pretty liquids are almost a must.
Many hapless heroes have ended their days in a gloomy dungeon looking for rat's bones to pick the lock with. Dungeons appear in many games often as a location from which the main protagonist must escape.
A hospital is a place to seek help in a medical emergency. It is also used for treating minor illnesses that aren't necessary an emergency. Some games take place in a hospital, whilst others use them as a part of the environment.
A place to buy and repair equipment -- a necessity for any traveling adventurer. You might even try your hand at the forge yourself, if you have the skill.
Asia is the largest continent in the world, it spans from part of the Soviet Union all the way down to Indonesia. It goes from Japan to the Middle East.
A place to buy alcoholic beverages and to mingle/meet with non player characters. Bars in games are sometimes essential to advance the plot, or recruit party members. Bars are the modern equivalents of taverns. You see taverns in fantasy games and bars in modern/sci-fi games.
A city is a large and densely populated urban area.
Buildings that have fallen in to a state of disrepair.
