    Connect them blocks

Magnetis is a simple puzzle game for WiiWare and Steam from 2009. It is hard to talk about puzzle game and not mention Tetris. Magnetis is no different here. Far from a clone but some similarities. Blocks fall and spaces are left open for bigger combos.

Controls for the game are simple. The conveyor belt is steered either left or right. Falling blocks can be rotated around. Well, it is hardly rotating since the blocks have only left and right side. The blocks are dropped to the conveyor belt and U-shape magnets must be matched with a opposing U-shape. Grey blocks can be used to extend length of magnet no get more points. Challenge comes from different colored magnet blocks which need to matched with same color.

Idea is refreshing and the presentation is decent. No doubt Steam version will look better on higher res though. Music tracks are funky muzak which is just border-lining catchy. Screen is limited to a smaller window so that game appears to be inside a mechanical machine. Not only this, but for a vertical puzzle it is funny that you can only have 10 rows since the blocks are so thick. In other words, the basic screen layout could be better.

Game modes are: normal mode, time attack and block attack as well as battle, teamplay and co-op for local multiplayer up to 4 controllers ( Wii). All following the same basic connect the blocks game play. Steam version has 40 achievements which add further length on the PC version further.

For 500 points or £3.49 this is not a bad buy. Simple and relatively addictive small little puzzle game.
