Malon

Overview

Malon is a character featured in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time originally, and has since appeared in several games in the Legend of Zelda series.

Malon's Story

Malon and her father Talon run a farm in Hyrule Kingdom, called Lon Lon Ranch, in which they acquire milk from cows, and raise cuccos and horses. One horse in particular that Malon raised is called Epona. Epona eventually becomes Link's steed to use throughout The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and in several other Zelda games.

Malon's favorite song in which she is always singing is called "Epona's Song". This is a song that Malon learned from her mother and has the power to tame the usually wild Epona. Malon teaches Epona's Song to Link in OoT.

Unlike most residents of Hyrule, Malon has not one, but two counterparts in the alternate-universe land of Termina. Romani Ranch, Termina's equivalent to Lon Lon Ranch, is run by a young woman named Cremia, who looks just like Malon does as an adult, and her younger sister, Romani, who refers to herself in the third person and looks just like Malon does as a child.
