Manhunter: New York is an adventure game based in the very futuristic year of 2004, where the world has been enslaved by alien invaders.
The game did not include any pre-recorded dialogue, but relied upon text bubbles to convey important all plot-critical information. The major gameplay mechanics involved tracking down individuals in New York by locating their addresses across the city. Although point-and-click, Manhunter did not actually use a mouse; the cursor was moved across the screen using the keyboard directional arrows. If the player had access to a mouse, it could only be used to demonstrate the current location of the cursor, rather than move.
A sequel, Manhunter 2: San Francisco, was released in 1989.
