Mario Kart Wii is a game of its predecessors. It is a safe and plausible new addition to the Mario Kart universe. The game feels familiar from the beginning, Grand Prix, Time Trial, VS and Battle modes are all there. There are changes, a wheel that comes with the game, dual players of Double Dash are gone motorcycles are in. The control scheme now has four choices, wii wheel, nunchuk and wii remote, GameCube controller and the classic controller. At the beginning, you’re asked to create a license...

    Baby steps 0

As a guy who has played almost every Mario Kart game in existence (the GBA's Super Circuit and the Arcade GP being the exceptions), I always go into a new Mario Kart game with some level of reserved expectation. I always feel like there is plenty of potential with a game like Mario Kart, but the series' history of playing it safe has taught me to not hope for too much. And for the most part, this is once again the case with Mario Kart Wii.That's not to say I didn't like Mario Kart Wii. In fact, ...

Mario Kart Wii is more Mario Kart, no more, no less. 1

In 1992, the Mario Kart series was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then, it has become one of Nintendo’s most popular series, along with Zelda, Metroid and the Mario series in general. The Kart series has made the racing genre much more accessible for everyone. Over the years, the series has been fine-tuned while still retaining its easy-to-pick-up play style. Now, with the introduction of the Wii and the motion-sensor controller, the Mario Kart series continues, and g...

Mario Kart Wii is the Best Racing Game on the Wii so Far 1

Mario Kart Wii is one of those games that offer both lighthearted fun for casual play, as well as some gaming depth for a more serious type of player. The game has improved vastly over its Gamecube predecesor, gathering more elements from the DS version than the GC format. Yet, this is a pretty good thing since it is a sort of "back to basics" for the franchise, however adds some elements to keep it fresh. The game has no story or background, however, most racing games don´t have one either so ...

Mario Kart Wii plays it safe and the end result is impressive 2

Every Nintendo platform has had a Mario Kart game. From the Super Nintendo and now the Wii. The games haven't changed all that much over the years. There are a few improvements in this new version, most work very well but overall the game does not stray far from the Mario Kart Wii formula which is sure not a bad thing.               The game is a lot like the DS version. 32 tracks and 8 cups. The tracks are a mixture of old and new which is where a problem lies. The new maps are g...

Yup, it's Mario Kart again. 1

Well, it’s been about seventeen minutes since Mario’s last spin off adventure, so it looks like it’s about that time again…. Oh wait! This is a Mario spin-off that people genuinely care about! Honestly, I don’t know why Nintendo doesn’t think about creating some new franchises instead of whoring out good old Mario around 20 times a year; however Mario kart has always been something a bit more special. What’s even more special is that we Europeans get this one before our American cousins, hence t...

Mario Kart Wii - the good and the bad 0

kbd here to tell you the good and the bad of Mario Kart Wii in as few words as possible. ;)The good:+ 10 battle mode arenas (5 new and 5 retro) + 32 tracks (16 new and 16 retro)+ a 26 character roster (12 available to begin with and the rest are unlockable) + bikes are a nice alternative to karts+ online+ stunts/tricks mix things up a littleThe bad:- AI can be cheap on higher difficulties - Battle is team only- Customisation options are limited- Items are more unbalanced than ever- Roster lacks ...

A strictly average take on the Mario Kart franchise 2

Steven BeynonEpicSteve Mario Galaxy aside, Nintendo doesn't seem willing to reinvent their blockbuster brands, but merely remaking them for the current generation. Between hit titles such as Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, and so on, fans of these franchises got high quality titles, but also got exactly what they were expecting. Mario Kart is no different in any such way, its a high quality kart racer, but is also a strictly average take on the Mario Kart franchise. ...

    TON 'O' FUN! 1

This game is a ton of fun. Got that, a ton. Do you even realize how much a ton is? Well, it's a lot, and that's my point. You've got cars, racing around, like really fast.. it's crazy! It's a lot of fun is what I'm tring to get across here, read my lips (I realize you can't actually read them) a lot, as in a hundred words are a lot, you know? ...

The Whiil is fun to use and the online is spectacular! 0

Good: - online play is top-notch, a true first for a Nintendo game - gameplay feels new and familiar at the same time - motorcycles and tricks are very nice additions to the series - huge character roster including the option to use your Mii - the Whiil is a very fun peripheral to use and really opens up the game to everyone - 12 player races are really cool - Bad: - items are terribly annoying and cheap, particularly in single player - no mission mode - some control modes have inconvenient butt...

Mario kart on the wii is much improved and its the top best game 0

Game play: Mario kart was a kart racing game who came out a long time ago on the Nintendo 64 later mario kart came out on the gamecube then the ds and now on the wii. The funest part of playing this game on the wii is that you can use the steering wheel and the AI is more challenging. You get to play 50cc 100cc and 150cc you need to win every race in first place if possible if you want to beat the game you get allot of old and new characters and cool little and big karts. The new unlockable on t...

Mario Kart Wii is well an ..... interesting addition the the Mario Kart series, the graphics are well... Wii graphics, you can't expect very much from it. Now the gamplay can be summed up in one word... fun it's just like the the other mario kart game and if you've enjoyed the previous games in the series you should be heading straight to your local wal-mart, target, etc. But now the reason I give this game only four stars, "snaking" if you played mario kart before you've probably "snaked" by qu...

    Mario Kart Wii Review 0

Mario Kart has recently become one of Nintendo’s main franchises- while it has always held a place in the heart of the hardcore gamer, the DS version of the game has become one of Nintendo’s famous blue ocean titles. With the company’s recent shift to servicing the casual market it’s to be expected that the more traditional games would be slightly gimped, but Mario Kart Wii is still a huge disappointment. The main problem with the latest iteration of the series is that it stinks of laziness. The...

Mario Kart Rubber band AI Wii doesn't live up to expectation!!!! 0

~Intro~     Mario has been karting around different arenas for quite some time. Following the delightfully delicious Mario Kart DS, I naturally assumed that Mario Kart Wii would be better than the DS version. Though MKW has been improved slightly but still hasn't steered passed the kiddy starting line. In fact, due to some modifications to be mentioned later the game has actually lost its hardcore appeal.     The newest improvement comes in Mario and company ability to saddle up and ride a varie...

Not as good as Double Dash 0

Mario Kart Wii is an awesome game, but it's not as good as Double Dash. The only thing I don't like about the game is that Waluigi is a starter while Daisy is an unlockable. I don't mind if Daisy is an unlockable just as long as she's easy to unlock, but she isn't. She's hard to unlock. Also, I'd prefer an All Cup Tour over retro tracks. Well, I'll say that this game is the second best game for the Wii. It's a pretty good....

    Could have been epic 4

This could have been the ultimate Mario Kart. A few things have kept me from enjoying this title as much as Mario Kart DS though. I will be honest. I snake. I snake hard in Mario Kart DS. In addition, I star r*** like there is no tomorrow. I have to show those darn kids who is boss right? Alas, there is no snaking in Mario Kart Wii. That's cool, well can I at least talk with people online? Oh wait, no I cannot. Well then, the best non-snaking racer must win on a consistent basis then right? No, ...

    Mario Kart Wii Review 1

The Mario Kart franchise is something that i have a lot of experience in, and i am sure many other Gamers have. It symbolizes for a lot of us, a part of our childhood, sitting in front of are television screens with are brother, sister, friends or what have you, and playing what seemed like a goldmine at the time, Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo. Maybe if your a little younger your more familiar with the Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart: Double Dash! games, but either way, we all felt the s...

By far the best racing game on the Wii. 0

HE GOOD: Small changes and refinements make the gameplay more accessible for casual players while keeping it deep enough to satisfy hardcore gamers; Playing with the Wii Wheel is fun and helps you get more immersed in the game, but only after you get pass the not very small learning curve; The trick system and the bikes are both welcome additions that bring some much needed novelty to the gameplay; The A.I. is a bit more aggressive than it was in Double Dash; Lighting is vastly improved; ...

With excellent online capabilities and fun racing, Mario Kart Wii 0

Mario Kart has been around for more than a decade, starting out on the Super Nintendo and since then has had sequels hit across every major Nintendo console since then. Now Mario Kart has returned on the Wii and it has never looked or played better than this. The presentation of Mario Kart Wii is flashy but subtle. It really doesn't have much to show off but the core gameplay. The menus are also very easy to navigate through, giving you the options of playing single player, multiplayer or onlin...

Secret Short Review 005- Mario Kart Wii 0

MARIO KART WII + Fun variety of tracks and characters  + Online mode is pretty solid  - Gameplay is a bit samey   - Wheel is useless, Nunchuk or Gamecube controller is the way to go. While the game is another great entry in the Mario Kart series, the game is faithful to the previous entries to the very letter. Sadly, Nintendo's biggest risk for this game appears to have been placed on the throwaway accessory that is the included wheel....

It is amazing. The basic thing is that mario wants to race and he brought more friends. This new game is good it has few of the modes like Single player, Multiplayer, Online play, and MK channel. The single player is about the same as ever. Theres Grand prix, Time trail, battle, and VS. Grand prix is where you go course to course and win 1, 2, or 3 place. Unlock more things and yadayadayada. Time trial is where you just take some practice and beat your ghosts and others. (nothing diffrent) Battl...

The best Mario kart yet. 1

This is without question, the ultimate Mario Kart game, this is every Mario Kart fan's dream come true. Anything I could have asked for, has been implemented into this game.Anyone comes to a Mario Kart game looking for the best graphics around is making a mistake, the series is about game-play, so don't expect any mind blowing visuals. However, I'm not saying Mario Kart is not a good looking game for the Wii. At first glance you won't really notice any difference between this and Double Dash, an...

    Great...for a Mario Kart 0

Concept: Mario Kart Wii doesn't really break new ground in this category. It's still Mario characters driving go-karts. Oh, look, they've added bikes for no reason at all! Anyway, most of the things this game has to offer have already been done.Playability: In terms of controls, the game is spot-on. You can choose four control styles (I actually now prefer the Wii Remote and Nunchuk), and the control is perfectly calibrated for all of them. The menus are simple and easy to navigate, and online t...

Mario Kart Wii is an improvement in the series in every way. Like Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii has online support to make your experience more fun. I think that racing with other gamers all around the world is a positive hands on experience on getting the movements of learning how to drive with others on the road, even though you are supposed to hit each other with different odd objects! Kids and even adults can enjoy Mario Kart Wii. I highly recommend this game to everyone! I respectively give...

For every new Nintendo console, a new iteration of Nintendo's insanely popular racing spin-off, Mario Kart. Since the release of Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo, the series has gained a very large amount of fans, and was a lot of people’s introduction to Nintendo. Mario Kart’s unique take on the racing genre makes them a blast to play, and my favourite racing series of all time. Speed up and race to the finish line with Mario and the gang. 0

My favorite racing game of the Mario Kart series and believe me, it's awesome! The courses are awesome, the songs are awesome and the graphics are perfect! With the addition of Rosalina and Baby Daisy, I always come back to the starting line and watch for the green light summoned by Lakitu. The best part about the game is the Wii Wheel and if you love racing to the finish line all by yourself in single-player matches and Grand Prix racing, there's also online racing and multiplayer action. So I ...

When i first hear Mario Kart was coming to the Wii I felt a bit strange since I didn't like Mario Kart Double Dash as much as I like Mario Kart DS, if you ask me; I'm all into the one character per Kart gameplay, so at first with the GC installment I was kind of shocked. Now I can safely say Nintendo has gone back to basics with this game, you once again see one character per kart but you can choose different Karts, also Mario kart Wii has the biggest grid I've seen, 12 karts go head to head to...

    Mario Kart Wii 0

The Mario Kart series has always been great because of two reasons. One, is the cool-factor of racing with your favorite Nintendo characters. Two, because you can have a blast with friends. While these two things are present in Mario Kart Wii, and in one case improved upon, it's definitely not the best game in the series. While playing, I was never feeling like it was a Wii game in itself. Rather, I felt like I was playing some good old Mario Kart, which isn't a bad thing, ...

Mario kart wii is definitely a mario kart game. But what people don't understand is that that's not a bad thing. The mario kart series has always shined and this game is no different. Its fun in groups and alone. It has no great storytelling single player campaign but it does well at what is was intended to do. Be a good kart racing game. I would say neither win or a fail, but a good solid fun game. Understandably more toned down to easier with the casual players. The new tracks are really well designed with fun environments and multiple pathways. The online works surprisingly well seeing as Smash Bros online was a complete lag fest sloppy mess. The controls are still as solid as they ever were so there is no problem there.Where I do fault the game is what I kind of gave it props to as well. The game has been toned down for the c...

When I first time I heard a lot of information about Mario Kart Wii I wasn't as excited as I could have been. It didn't look like it was moving the series forward and more of the same (which is not a bad thing). I liked the double Karts in Mario Kart Double Dash and thought by not including them in this one would somehow make the game feel it was missing something. When I heard there would be online in the game I thought it to be a great addition but nothing new since it was in Mario Kart DS.Aft...

Mario Kart Wii is chocked full of fun tracks both new and retro. The retro list reads like a Rolling Stones' greatest hits album and the new courses are so good that I was blown away by their creativity and playability. The same can be said for the Battle arenas: unlike the GameCube's mostly unimaginative battlegrounds (don't worry...I still loved them), these arenas do a far better job of testing your ability. In addition to the staggering amount of great environments from past and present, the...

Mario Kart is an awesome series, being my favorite racing series. The newest installment to this long running franchise arrived on the Wii. It is a very great game, and well worth the money... especially those new to the series. For veterans such as I, this game lives up to its predecesors, but it does little to alter the experience. The Good: Addicting right from the start, pretty decent visuals, awesome music, very interesting characters (especially newcomers), and a really cool control scheme...

The lights are green on Mario Kart Wii, the latest iteration of the plumbers racing series and with the addition of bikes to the action, things don’t look to be slowing down. Mario Kart Wii is not worth your money 0

Mario Kart is one of Nintendo's best series.  From playing the N64 version in a MCDonald's, to Double Dash, to MK DS, Mario Kart has been sucking my time away with its fun gameplay that was simple enough for any gamer to feel good, but deep enough for the pros.  Unfortunately, the Wii iteration of this great series leaves a lot to be desired, and is barely worthy of being a Mario Kart game, let alone being an improvement over the previous ones.Graphics in Mario Kart Wii leave a lot to be desired...

The first game to beat Brawl on the Wii! 1

In my opinion, MKW is probably one of the best Wii games so far. I can think of only a few that could be better. MKW keeps you playing it much longer than Brawl, and this is another game that has a ton of customization, unlockables, and gameplay features. One of the new gameplay features that no other MK game has ever featured is airborne tricks. MKW also features wheelies, and motorcycles. All these new MK features attract all sorts of fans. MKW is the best MK game by far, no doubt about it. Ov...

Mario Kart on the Wii has been something gamers around the world have eagerly awaited. The graphics are smooth and near flawless, the gameplay handles well and tries (with great success) to include the good elements from previous games. If you combine the gameplay from DS together with the fast-paced and flowing feel from the GCN version and you have an idea of how Mario Kart Wii plays. The wheel takes a little to get us...
