Get online and race in this Wii update of the long-running Mario Kart series. Mario Kart Wii is one of the best-selling Wii games, selling over 6 million copies worldwide.
Overview
The latest installment of the classic Mario racing franchise, Mario Kart Wii, pits players against each other as well as computer opponents in a fast-paced, cartoon-style of kart racing, making judicious use of the Wii's accelerometer-based technology. Players can choose from a total of 26 characters including Peach, Mario, Luigi, Toad, Bowser, and many others. Mario Kart Wii Introduces several new features to the franchise, including motorbikes, support for up to twelve racers at a time, and Internet-based racing over the Wii's Wi-Fi connection. Mario Kart Wii ships with the Wii Wheel, a plastic shell designed to hold the Wii Remote and act as a more-realistic interface for the game, which apparently went through at least 30 different iterations before a final design was decided upon.Characters
All characters in Mario Kart Wii are separated into 3 weight classes: Light, Medium and Heavy. Light characters have faster acceleration times, but slower maximum driving speeds. Medium characters have average acceleration times and maximum driving speeds. Heavy characters have slow acceleration times but have higher maximum driving speeds.
