Man, when you zoom out on these maps, it all looks so...boring. Do ya remember the twist on some of these boards? I only remember the Koopa one has like fast travel on the happening spaces and he shows up in that boarded middle part for some reason. If you can get run over by the roller-coaster on the Toad one, then that's pretty sweet imo.

The Toad is exactly what you say, Koopa one takes away your money when you land on the happening spaces, Goomba one randomly puts you in one of the four segments (or you can bribe him), Boo one has a train, Shy Guy one floods, Bowser one has bridges that break down when crossed by enough people.

To be honest, I'd like to see the Koopa one just to see how pissed off they get when that shit happens to them.

Goomba's Greedy Gala is my favorite, as I remember it at least. It's been years since I played it, but I remember that it had some good randomness to it, which btw I think is a great theme for Mario Party Party. =)

I like the uniformity of Boo but the nonsense of Goomba wins out.

I'm torn on which would be most annoying, but I think Goomba's Greedy Gala and its random-ass roulette wheel clinches it for me. That would be genuinely infuriating after 50 turns (or, heck, 10).

Sad fact: I actually played this one a lot. On single-player. For all that furniture you can put in your little dioramas.

There's a big problem with Goomba's Greedy Gala that's not the roulette wheel: the Goomba dice spaces destroy movement potential and it quickly gets boring after 15 turns or so. By forcing you to play an event that either gives you 10 coins or sends you to Start, it makes the only actually correct option to run around the green loop, collecting money from the roulette wheel, items, and crushing people with the mega mushroom until either the star ends up in a fortuitous position for you or you can buy a lamp.

Plus there are only three battle game spaces, one which is on a path that no one is ever going to have a reason to go down, and two that are behind so many spaces that can send you to different spaces on the board that they'll never even get passed, let alone have the chance to be landed on. But all MP4 maps have this problem of too few battle spaces, because MP4 is one of the worst games in the series, so it's not really something that can be helped.

Also, considering Dan probably doesn't remember Mario Party 4 as well as he does the N64 ones: can we actually turn off mini-game explanations for this one? Just let everyone scramble to figure out what they're doing. It's not like it makes things any less fair, and it will cut out roughly 30 minutes of nothing happening but one person reading text on a screen because the other three people are too uninterested to read it themselves.

It's a casino; nothing is random. Just gotta have deep enough pockets.

@roy42: Oh, of course, you're right. You can pay money to fix the roulette wheel to get better odds on where it lands. Still, I don't know how often they're going to want to pay for the privilege. It feels like a few of them will refuse to do so out of principle.

Voted for Koopa's Seaside Soiree. I have absolutely no knowledge about the boards function but it's got a nice soothing colour palette. If I'm gonna be staring at something for 3+ hours I want it to be as easy on the eyes as possible.

By contrast, the Bowser level is irritating to look at after about 5 seconds.

Yeah Goomba's looks fun, I was hoping someone in here would have some expert analysis but oh well. That one looks the most interesting I suppose, maybe the roller coaster one too.

Whichever one is the most soul destroying. Bowser's Gnarly Party is probably fucked up but the roulette wheel in Goomba's Greedy Gala might be a good (bad) choice, the map looks too small though. Toad's Midway Madness has a pretty sweet looking rollercoaster but likely won't suck as much as the others.

Fuck, can we not have Goomba's ? If that wins, we'll have to watch that game happen, at least if GB is subjecting themselves to this, give them a board that isn't going to cause violence... Shyguy and Bowser boards are better than the others, while still being part of one the worst Mario Party games.

The Koopa Seaside Soiree makes them have to constantly pay to build the Koopas a Cabana, which seems like the most annoying, so I voted for that one.

The rollercoaster and jungle one seem by far the best and most varied of the bunch.

I chose the Seaside Soiree just because I like the word "soiree". I'm good for Goomba's Greedy Gala, though. The Bowser one looks alright, too. These maps seem pretty straightforward compared to the incomprehensible clusterfuck of the map they played in 3.

Midway madness probably has the least frustrating music of the whole bunch. If I were playing Mario Party for three hours, I think I'd be less likely to break the controller listening to it than the other BGMs.
