After playing id Software's Commander Keen games, Mark decided to contact the makers of the game. Even though he lived in Canada, John Romero assigned him as the "probationary president" of id Software. He had the same "hacker mentality" that was appreciated at id Software at the time. He broke a deal with FormGen to put out id's first retail game, Spear of Destiny. But Spear of Destiny failed to meet sales expectations and Mark was soon fired. He was replaced by Mike Wison. Mark went on to have a successful career, co-founding Epic Games and putting out many succesful games. He never lost his "hacker mentality" and Epic's games are known to be one of the most modder-friendly games in the industry.

His favorite words are "App" and "Killer."
