In news that should shock absolutely no one, Mark of the Ninja is also coming to to the PC. It’s scheduled for a release on Steam for $14.99 on October 16, and without Games for Windows Live hooks.

Mark of the Ninja follows a typical pattern for “exclusives” on Xbox Live Arcade, in which Microsoft ties up the game for a certain amount of time, and then it's released elsewhere. Sometimes the exclusivity is longer or shorter, but eventually, it leaves the nest.

Considering how great Mark of the Ninja was (make sure to read Brad’s glowing review over here), I’m happy to see the game come to a wider platform. All of you really need to play it.

Great. The only thing that shocks me about this is how quickly it's following the XBLA release. I wish more XBLA 'exclusive' games came over to PC while they are still fresh in the news.

Excellent news, though this means that any post-release content they planned won't immediately be part of the price as it was for Iron Brigade, Alan Wake, ITSP, etc. Oh well, I'll still be happy to buy it on PC.

XBLA is going from something that was awesome to something that is now just a preview for Steam. It's like the Best Buy-Amazon relationship (except that Best Buy was never awesome).

Thankfully not chained to a timed exclusive. i'll be picking this up when it comes out on steam.

I know XBLA and the exclusive deals have been getting hammered in the press because of lack of advertising, but I wonder how bad of a deal it really is when you take into account the game's entire lifespan.

I know it's obvious, but a game that is first on XBLA and then Steam will sell better than a game that goes straight to Steam. My greater point is that maybe going the XBLA route as the first release isn't such an awful deal when you consider how much better your game will sell once it hits Steam (vs. not being on XBLA at all). It's like using MS's platform to gather great reviews, sell 50k or so copies of your game, and graduate to Steam to sell double that amount (or more).

They said they had plans in the QL so I am glad they are going to do it!
